At first, we thought this would be the next AppleTV Apple's Next Creation: Is This The Upcoming AppleTV? Apple's Next Creation: Is This The Upcoming AppleTV? Tired of waiting for Apple, industrial designer Martin Hajek whipped up his version of the allegedly upcoming iTV (or AppleTV, whatever it'll be called). Read More but it seems designer Martin Hajek changed his mind as to how Apple’s next generation media streamer will look like. Hajek did a full one-eighty, and together with German tech website Curved, he “upgraded” the current AppleTV to a far superior product. Admittedly, I’m a little disappointed with his change of heart, but gosh, these are beautiful. And wireless charging remote? Are you trying to kill me?

Wouldn't surprise me if this was just a re-casing of the old hardware, with a fancy new remote thrown in for good measure.

I'll bet it will be more than $99.... just the remote would be that much!

Means nothing unless Amazon Prime is added. Roku is still hands down the best streaming device on the market and I have both along with a 5s, Ipad and Ipad mini.

Really sick design, would LOVE to see it turning into reality! Which is highly unlikely, unfortunately...

I don't give a crap what it looks like, it's all about performance. I'm quite happy with my current AppleTV and remote. Works.

The remote, while a nice design would be too expensive. Screens seem to be the most costly aspect of phones right now and with a battery that I'm going to guess that would be unable to be based on their current tech, you're looking at buying at least a $200 remote every 5 years or so based on current battery tech and probably sooner with the likelihood that something like this would break without some kind of protective cover. On top of that the curved screen makes it a bit harder of an engineering challenge to keep costs down and still make a usable remote. I know Apple has a strong fan base, but I don't think the money is there to justify a risky investment in something like this right now.

I'm not even going to talk about my antipathy for the AppleTV. This is bad design regardless. Remotes without hard buttons are bad remotes. Even on a high-res LCD of some sort, you want to be able to find certain buttons on a remote without having to look at the damned thing.

Agreed. Honestly if they would just make an app that integrates as nicely as Chromecast, it might be worth it.

So what's the big deal?! It will win a bunch of industrial design awards but, unless you are a Fruitco Fanatic, what is the difference between which monopoly (cable co. or Apple) you get your content from?
