Snapchat is insanely popular, and regarded as teenagers' favorite social network. If you're under the age of 35, Snapchat is probably your thing. Or at least it was until the new Snapchat update started rolling out last week. Now, Snapchat users are revolting.

The new Snapchat update is the biggest one the company has ever undertaken. And the biggest change is the separation of stories from brands, publishers and influencers, and stories from friends. Which has led users to beg Snapchat to revert back to the old version.

Snapchat Users Are Revolting

Snapchat has been rolling out the new update gradually, and as more people have been hit with it, so the wave of revulsion has grown. This has culminated in a Change.org petition demanding Snapchat change the app back to the way it was and has always been.

The poorly written petition claims that "the release of the new Snapchat update [...] has in fact made many features more difficult." What's more, "many ‘new features’ are useless or defeats [sic] the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years."

The ultimate aim of the petition is "to help convince Snap Inc. to change the app back to the basics, before this new 2018 update." Unfortunately for the 600,000+ people who have signed at the time of writing, Snapchat isn't showing any signs of budging.

Beyond the petition, Snapchat users have been expressing their displeasure on other social networks and leaving one-star reviews on App Stores. However, Snapchat is holding firm, telling users "it will take some getting used to" and directing them to the FAQs.

Nobody Likes Change

Snapchat isn't the first to face a user revolt. Facebook has suffered similar backlashes over the years. But Facebook has survived and thrived, and Snapchat will do the same. It's just that the teenagers will find a new favorite social network.

Do you use Snapchat? What do you think of the new Snapchat update? Will it just take some getting used to? Or is it so bad you would rather stop using Snapchat than use it? Have you signed the petition yet? Please let us know in the comments below!
