October 2016’s Free PS Plus and Xbox Live Games

As we enter the final quarter of the year, it’s time to take a look at the free games coming to PS Plus and Xbox Live Xbox Live vs. PlayStation Plus: What Do You Get With Each? Here are the free games for your gaming systems in October.


PlayStation Plus (CA/UK)

On PS4, Sony is celebrating the spooky season 4 Bone-Chilling Horror Games From The PlayStation 2 You've Never Heard Of Get your Shocktober on with these hidden PS2 horror gems. Read More with Resident Evil HD, the remastered first game in the classic horror franchise. PS4 owners also receive Transformers Devastation, an action game based on the classic toy franchise.

For the PS3, Sony is giving away From Dust, a game where you’re in control of a tribe and can manipulate matter to help them survive. The second PS3 game is Mad Riders, a cartoony ATV driving game.

Finally, the PS Vita is receiving Code: Realize ~Guardians of Rebirth, a visual novel set in steampunk London. The other Vita game is Actual Sunlight, whose website describes the game as “a short interactive story about love, depression and the corporation”.

Xbox Live (CA/UK)

As usual, Xbox One owners can download the Xbox 360 games through backwards compatibility, meaning they get four games in all.

For the Xbox One, Microsoft handing out Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings, a cartoony but expansive baseball game. The other title is The Escapists, a prison-break simulator that lets you decide how to bust out of the can.


On the 360 side, you’ll be able to download MX vs ATV Reflex, an adrenaline-fueled dirtbike and racing game. 360 owners also receive I Am Alive, a survival game From Surviving to Thriving: A Guide to Survival Games Survival games can have a steep learning curve, This guide will give you a basic understanding of the genre, and what you need to do to maximize your early game survival. Read More set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world.
