There are several ways to learn a new language, but few of them involve music. That's why a new web service called Linguician has turned our heads. This new language learning tool uses the power of music to expand your vocabulary and fluency.

And it's more fun than it sounds because music, in any language, is awesome.

Linguician covers Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, and even English for those who don't speak the Queen's language. Pick the language of your choice after registering on the site.

Pick a language

The site then displays a series of popular music videos in the language you are trying to learn. Pick one of the videos. As you can see from the screenshot below, learning Spanish comes with the perk of listening to Ricky Martin.

Music Videos

The crux of the new language is in the song lyrics. As the video plays, the song's lyrics are your lessons. The entire lyrics for a song are divided into lessons. Each lesson has two buttons: Discover and Play.

Click on Discover to learn the words with the help of automatic translations while watching the video. Click on Play and choose the correct answer from four different options for the highlighted words or phrases in the lyrics.

The idea is to make your language learning experience more interactive even as you enjoy the music. Find out how well you have grasped the new words with a quiz for that lesson. Answer the vocabulary questions and earn "LangoCoins" for each correct answer. The LangoCoins also enable you to unlock new songs in your playlist.

Want to learn on the move? Linguician has an Android app [No longer available] you can try.

One of the best ways to gain fluency in a new language is to immerse yourself in its culture. Music is one of the more entertaining windows. Earlier, we had tried language immersion with Chrome as just one of the more innovative ways to learn a new language. Linguician is a fantastic tool you can throw into the mix.

What do you think of the idea? Try Linguician and let us know in the comments.
