Microsoft expanded its retail footprint with the opening of an official store on eBay (U.S). Microsoft has its own online shopping portal with the Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Store on eBay is positioned as a complementary offering especially as the busy holiday shopping season draws near. Microsoft’s lineup of products like Surface and Xbox, as well as various Microsoft accessories will be available here. Microsoft would obviously benefit from another point-of-presence that could make it more convenient for eBay shopping loyalists. The screenshot (below) from the store’s homepage also advertises the benefits of the eBay experience.

Customers can also avail of refurbished products and the store promises deals that are part and parcel of the online shopping experience. The announcement said,

With the holiday shopping season already here, we look forward to helping customers find the Microsoft products that fit their budget and needs whether it’s on the Microsoft Store on eBay, microsoftstore.com or one of 81 full line and specialty retail stores.

It makes sense for Microsoft to aggressively market its products and create as many retail points as possible as it seeks to establish new markets with newer products in its lineup. eBay is among the top online destinations for shoppers and 124 million active users globally is a large demographic that the company from Redmond wants to target more directly.

Have you shored up your holiday shopping plans yet? Is a Microsoft product on the list?
