How to Make More Money With Google Opinion Rewards

Christian Cawley Updated 29-11-2019

Want to get apps, games, movies, TV shows, and books for free on Google Play? Then it’s time to use the Google Opinion Rewards app, a mobile survey tool that rewards you with cash in your Google account every time you complete a brief survey.

With over 10 million installs, this is a popular app, but are you using it to its full potential? Could you be making more money with Google Opinion Rewards?

How Does Google Opinion Rewards Work?

Before we look at how you can tempt Google into giving you more money, we need to look at just how Google Opinion Rewards works. Perhaps you’ve never used it, or maybe you’ve used it once and forgot all about it.

Google Opinion Rewards isn’t limited to Android users. If you own an iPhone, you can also install it, and benefit from the same paid surveys. Note that if you’re on iPhone, your PayPal account is credited, whereas Android users will have the rewards credited to their Google account.

Once launched, Google Opinion Rewards requires you to sign into your usual Google account. You should then receive a preliminary “test” survey, partially to make sure you understand your part in this mutually beneficial relationship, and partially to establish your demographic.

Google Opinion Rewards surveys you based on recent shopping experiences. If you have been shopping, you should be able to provide an answer.

Surveys take around 10 seconds to complete, and usually end up with a few cents being added to your account. Over the course of a few weeks you can end up with enough credit to spend in the Play Store.

Click Buy when you’re ready, ensuring that your Google Play balance is selected as the payment source.

Now that we know how it works, let’s look at how to make more money.

Enable Location Services for Google Opinion Rewards

While you might get questions concerning online purchases, many surveys from Google Opinion Rewards relate to your recent journeys. With location services enabled in Android, you get a better chance of receiving surveys that ask you about where you went.

But why the interest?

In most cases, the information is gathered to help improve Google Maps. Ensure the correct Location setting is selected by opening Settings > Lock screen & security, scrolling to Privacy, and selecting Location.

Ensure Use location is set to On, then scroll down Advanced and confirm Google Location Accuracy is also set to On.

This uses GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile networks to establish your location, and is the best option if you’re hoping to generate some cash with Google Opinion Rewards. Note that it’s also a privacy minefield What Does Google Know About You? Find Out and Manage Your Privacy and Security For the first time, search giant Google is offering a way for you to check the information it has about you, how it is gathering that data, and new tools to start reclaiming your privacy. Keep the Google Opinion Rewards App Updated

As well as having location services enabled, you’ll need to ensure that the app is up-to-date.

Changes to the survey collection system may not be compatible with older versions of Google Opinion Rewards, so having the most recent version of the app installed is a major advantage.

To ensure that the app is up-to-date, open the Play Store app on your phone, go to the menu and select Settings. Tap Auto-update apps and ensure the setting is enabled. Use Over Wi-Fi only for the best results.

How to Get More Surveys With Google Opinion Rewards

It would be great to get a load of surveys every day, but this isn’t going to happen. However, there are certain things that you can do to ensure that you get to answer as many surveys as possible.

  • Check the app daily and ensure you have enabled notifications for Google Opinion Rewards.
  • Respond to surveys promptly.
  • Be female: it seems that high-spending, regularly shopping women get more opportunities for generating rewards with the Google Reward Opinions.
  • Regular shopping trips to well-known stores: sitting around at home is not the way to generate surveys from Google.
  • Tell the truth: the app serves the occasional “fake” survey to filter out bad answers. Trick questions might ask if you went to a location you didn’t visit or took part in an activity you didn’t. The fake questions are easy to spot but answering deceitfully will earn you less money in the long run.

Getting out and about can prove profitable for your Google Play balance, so remember to check the app, answer truthfully, and promptly!

Get Google Opinion Rewards for Christmas

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise, but it’s worth mentioning: you’ll make more from Google Opinion Rewards in the final quarter of the year (September–December) as this is when people are typically shopping online for the Christmas period.

Companies that contract Google to survey their users want to know about your shopping habits, so it makes sense that they’ll be trying to pull in this information—thanks to Google’s “instant gratification” surveys—in the period when you do the most shopping.

So, if you want to generate credits for the Play Store with Google Opinion Rewards, make sure you have it installed, updated, and regularly checked in the run-up to Christmas.

Don’t Let Your Rewards Run Out!

It’s a nice feeling to see the balance in your Play Store account rising. Each time you complete a survey, your updated balance will be displayed.

Google Opinion Rewards credit expires after 12 months, so you need to keep using the app and spending the credits. If you don’t, you’ll have wasted your time and effort.

A good way to stop this happening is to keep a list of apps and games that you want to buy. You can do this by marking them for later, by clicking the Add to wishlist button. Wishlist items can be viewed by clicking My wishlist in Google Play.

5 Ways to Spend Your Google Opinion Rewards

With money saved up in the Google Opinion Rewards app, you can put it to good use. Want some ideas?

Over the past 12 months, I have:

  1. Bought a graphic novel
  2. Rented Black Panther
  3. Stumped up for half a dozen games
  4. Upgraded an app from ad-support to premium
  5. Bought several songs and albums

In short, Google Opinion Rewards has paid for all my Google Play Store purchases. It isn’t big bucks, and I didn’t make enough to rent (or buy) a movie every week. But it was enough to pass the time and provide an evening of entertainment.

And that’s before we talk about the games and music in depth. All from answering a few questions once or twice a week.

It’s a good deal.

Make Google Opinion Rewards Work for You

Easy to set up, free to use, and with some simple ways to get more surveys and earn more money, Google Opinion Rewards is an app that everyone should use.

By earning credit for just going places, media purchases are essentially free. While it might not be as vital for an iPhone user, money is credit to PayPal instead, ready for you to spend as you see fit.

In my opinion, the best place to go would be to Walmart. I went to my nearest Walmart, and the following week I got 3 survey back to back.

I just downloaded the app for my son, and he did his first survey and was rewarded with a dime. Funny thing is, I then got the app, took a different first survey and collected a whopping seventy cents! I believe that the difference was actually selecting the option: other & then in my own words, I described why I liked the short video clip that I watched. Not sure if this helps anyone, but I do believe that it rewards those who add a tad more than the quick selection. ??

Definitely don't lie. I made that mistake and while perhaps in the short term I got more credits, eventually they just stopped sending surveys altogether.

Who is lying, and what grounds do you have for such an accusation?

I've made £8 so far this year on surveys. Get out and about, visit places, and you'll get surveys sent.

Did you seriously write an article that said not to lie, and then claim someone who said they agreed with you because they made that mistake was acusing you of lying.. Wtf.

Had this on my phone since I started using of around April of last year on my account. I got more surveys without GPS / Location and History on. As soon as I turned those on, I never received any. I going to turn it off again since it uses the battery faster. Worst thing I fell for in a long time. People say this app is great but it would be if I actually got surveys. I got max 10 since April.

Do you go out and about much?

Many surveys I get seem to be about places I've been to, and gauging accuracy of the location technology.

This was a very helpful topic, i love google rewards and although it somewhat bothers me that all my interests and day to day activity maybe tracked I don't think anything i do is really worth wild to anyone. But google thinks so i guess.

I've gotten $11 in two weeks, usually get 1-3 surveys a day. So far most have been 3-4 questions, and they ask about some brands I've never heard of. I'll try some of these tips to try to increase my surveys.

Sometimes I think its just a crock! I've been coming back for over a week now a not a darn thing... Before that it was just barley questions and then it was some lame duck ones at that!Only paying out at under ¢50 in most cases.
Still I come back in the hopes of questions, for before it was at least giving me surveys...
    Shrugging shoulders here...

Well it certainly doesnt pay big bucks, but it amounts to a nice bonus from time to time.

I do think getting out and about is the best way to make the Google Bucks. if I stay home, surveys are rare. Shopping trips and days out, on the other hand, always result in surveys.

Interesting, but as long as you have the same Google account logged in with location services on, IMO, it should be the same.

I have been using Google Rewards since April 2014 and have made over £22 for what amounts for a few seconds of work a week.

It's paid for many apps and a few albums for Google music, which I would not have usually bought and is a great way to make a few pennies.

I have never seen a survey that would come anywhere close to being personal and sometimes just answering a simple question like "Have you ever been swimming" can make 30 pence+.

    It's awesome.
