MailBait: Fill Your Email Inbox With Junk Email For Testing Purposes

Dave LeClair 20-10-2012

How would you like an email inbox full of newsletters and other junk mail that you never want to read? In most cases, this would be rather undesirable. However, if you need to test spam filters or a new mail server, making a temporary email address and filling it with junk mail could be exactly what you need. If you want to  do this automatically, MailBait is the perfect solution.

MailBait runs quietly in the background and automatically signs your email address up for all kinds of newsletters and other junk mail that you would generally want to avoid. The longer you let it run, the more stuff it will sign you up for and the more strain it will be able to apply to your mail server and spam filters.

For certain situations, this app could prove to be quite useful, just make sure to remember to get rid of that email address after, as it will be on all kinds of spam lists when you are done. One thing to note is that this process is not anonymous, and your IP address is not hidden during the process. This means you may want to take steps necessary to hide your information so you know you are safe and protected.

  • Signs up an email address for many mailing lists.
  • Will fill your inbox in a relatively short time.
  • Easy way to test spam filters or mail server.

This 'service' has no legitimate use other than to harass email users and mailing list administrators.

Luckily it has been shut down by the web host.
