Spotify has an entirely justified reputation for removing useful and much-loved features. One of the lost features which caused the most outcry among users was the removal of song lyrics.

In its place, Spotify introduced the largely unimpressive Behind the Lyrics. Instead of showing you the lyrics of a track, you can now only see "key lyrics," accompanied by the story of what inspired them. Worse still, the feature is not available on all songs and is only available in English.

As we said, it's unimpressive.

But did you know there's still a way to enjoy a song's lyrics? At least, there is if you're listening on an Android device. You just need to install the QuickLyric app. Let's take a closer look.

Get Lyrics for Currently Playing Songs on Spotify

To begin, you'll need to download the QuickLyric app from the Google Play Store. Once you have installed it on your device, just follow the simple step-by-step instructions below to set up Spotify correctly.

  1. Open the Spotify app.
  2. Go to the Settings menu.
  3. Scroll down to Device Broadcast Status.
  4. Slide the toggle into the On position.

Next, use Spotify to start playing a song and head back to the QuickLyric app. The song's lyrics should instantly display on the screen. Some songs even have live lyrics available. Once a song ends, you might need to hit the refresh button to change the lyrics to the new track.

QuickLyric actually works with several Android music playing apps, including Google Play Music, Apple Music, and VLC. And remember, there are lots of other ways to get lyrics on the web. With all the resources out there, you will be a karaoke king in no time!
