7 Lesser-Known Adobe Apps Worth Downloading

Shubham Agarwal 01-03-2019

Adobe offers a mobile app for nearly all of your creative needs. Whether it’s Photoshop for those last-minute edits or Illustrator for quick sketches, Adobe has you covered.

Apart from the mainstream choices, however, Adobe has built a host of lesser-known apps for a variety of jobs. Here are seven of them.

1. Adobe Scan

Adobe Scan bills itself as a powerful and portable PDF scanner. For the most part, it fulfills that promise. The app lets you scan a wide range of documents, such as business cards and whiteboard scribblings, and is equipped with a series of smart utilities to make the process less cumbersome.

For starters, Adobe Scan can automatically recognize most of the documents you try to capture. That means all you have to do is point your phone in the right direction and Adobe Scan will grab the document without you pressing or adjusting anything. Once you’ve clicked the picture, you can edit the result with several cropping tools as well as filters for enhancing its clarity.

What’s more, Adobe Scan allows you to stitch multiple files and form new PDFs from them. Before finishing up, you have the option to sign the documents as well. You can simply keep taking photos and appending them to the temporary project.

It even has the ability to parse business cards, which you can then easily save in your phone’s contacts. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is available if you’d like to extract the text instead of the image.

2. Adobe Fill & Sign

If you digitally sign and fill forms regularly, Adobe has an app for you called Fill & Sign. It comes with a bevy of features that enable you to quickly add text to forms and sign documents. You can import PDFs and image files, or take a new picture.

Once processed, you can overlay the fields with text boxes and type without any hassle. Plus, Fill & Sign offers a bunch of settings like text size and the ability to input in boxes instead of a single string. You can even input ticks and crosses for checkboxes.

After you’ve filled numerous forms, the app will start suggesting common entries like your name and address so you don’t have to manually enter them.

3. Adobe Spark Post

Adobe’s Spark Post is the app for people looking to design professional-grade marketing materials without having to go through advanced tutorials. It houses an endless range of templates you can instantly modify to suit your preferences and campaigns. If you’re not satisfied with those, Spark Post also lets you adjust the available elements individually.

You can thus build custom templates of your own by picking backgrounds, aspect ratios, layouts, and everything else. In addition, you can add animations for the text and generate a video instead of a still at the end. Once you’re content with the outcome, you can share your creation on social media or save it to your phone’s gallery.

4. Adobe Capture CC

Adobe Capture CC is a rather unorthodox camera app primarily intended for professionals who want their shots to stand out. The app is capable of creating visual elements from the world. It does so by letting you fetch or form patterns, colors, and more from scenes through the camera viewfinder.

So for instance, when you discover a unique color in the wild, you can simply launch Capture CC and digitally reproduce it by pointing the camera towards it. Furthermore, it has various pattern options with which you can spawn peculiar graphics. There’s a lot Capture CC can do once you figure out how it works, including replicating typographies.

The app is part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud, which means all your assets sync with your cloud account and other Adobe apps. Since the elements you produce are built on a proprietary framework, you need an Adobe account to utilize them. We’ve looked at reasons Adobe Creative Cloud is worth the cost, if you’re on the fence.
