Google Forms is an incredibly popular tool, and for good reason. It has unlimited free forms, logic threading, is great on mobile platforms, and integrates well with the rest of Google's services.

Believe it or not, there's a world outside of Google and some pretty great Google Forms alternatives exist that are definitely worth trying out. These tools are generally a little more sophisticated, more focused on design, and offer some features that a free platform like Google Forms just can't.

1. WuFoo

WuFoo is a polished form builder trusted by large brands and single users alike. It's easy to build professional forms thanks to the intuitive drag-and-dragon functionality.

You can embed WuFoo with other applications, it has integrated payment options, and there are hundreds of templates to choose from.

Finally, respondents can upload documents, it features an excellent analytics engine, and has encryption and password protection.

All of these features don't come cheap. While you can use WuFoo for free, this limits you to a handful of forms and entries. The cheapest plan begins at $20/month, with the enterprise-aimed plan costing $249/month.

2. Typeform

typeform

The philosophy behind Typeform is that forms don't need to be boring. Thanks to the colorful templates, easily customizable with pictures and videos, that's certainly true.

Typeform regularly gets rave reviews online from both creators and form respondents because of its ease of use, appealing visuals, and great customer support.

It also offers conditional logic, reports, third-party integrations, and is easily embeddable on your website.

As a single user, the free Typeform plan should do the job, but you can upgrade if you need things like conversion tracking and to remove the company's branding.

3. LimeSurvey

limesurvey

LimeSurvey is primarily targeted at those in enterprise or education. Whether you're conducting customer surveys, market research, or research studies, LimeSurvey can help.

You can sign up for free, though you're limited to 25 responses a month. Features include branching logic, support for over 80 languages, data export in multiple formats, and more.

Interestingly, LimeSurvey is open source. This means you can download the source code and host everything yourself, if you have the know-how.

4. FormKeep

If you have a website and want a quick and easy solution for embedding any type of form, like a contact form or a lead collection form, FormKeep has you covered.

It offers automatic spam filtering, third-party integrations to services like Google Sheets and Slack, and an easy visual form builder.

You can sign up for free, though you're limited to 50 monthly submissions. If you want more, you'll need to check out the paid plans.

5. JotForm

jotform

JotForm has been a key player in online forms for years. The system boasts several tools to improve your form building experience.

Its highly customizable form designer places a priority on aesthetics, and the form analytics tool gives you a detailed breakdown of responses.

Submission information can be integrated into CRMs, email marketing services, payment collection systems, and cloud storage systems (including Google Drive and Dropbox).

That said, there can be a bit of a learning curve for in-depth form customization.

6. Formlets

formlets

Formlets' form designer is easy to use, and offers a large library of preconfigured templates. The forms can be embedded just about anywhere, are mobile-friendly, can be integrated with thousands of different apps, and are easily connected to payment processes or file uploads.

If you just want to publish a single form, it's entirely free for personal use. That includes unlimited responses, multipage designs, all the software integrations, and more.

7. PlanSo Forms

PlanSo stands out because of its ability to create multi-column forms—most form creators only allow for a single column option.

PlanSo can be downloaded as a WordPress plugin or used for free in-browser.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to export your survey responses for anything less than the Business tier ($89).

8. FormCrafts

formcrafts

FormCrafts has gone above and beyond to tailor its tools to its users' needs, and has become one of the most popular form builders around.

FormCrafts has a wide variety of templates, as well as a drag and drop form builder, multipage forms at all payment levels, live-updating math logic and conditional logic, and there's a WordPress Plugin.

On the downside, FormCrafts has limited email marketing integration, and won't automatically calculate results for polls or quizzes.

9. Formsite

formsite

Formsite is an incredibly popular alternative to Google Forms that has been used by industry giants such as Dell, General Mills, and several Ivy-league universities.

It's as top-notch as you would expect, with PayPal and credit card integration, customizable forms, advanced logic options, file uploads, and several ways to view, share, and process your results.

Unfortunately, there's no free option. Plans begin at $24.95/month.

10. Ninja Forms

ninja forms

If you have a WordPress site, Ninja Forms is an excellent choice.

It's so easy to build forms thanks to the drag-and-drop builder, though you can use the customizable templates if you prefer.

The forms automatically match your website's styling and are fully responsive on all devices.

Licenses begin at $29/year, with the cost increasing depending on how many sites you need to use it on and whether you need enterprise features like CRM integration.

11. Form Assembly

formassembly

Form Assembly is another form builder that boasts some incredibly large clients, including Target, Panasonic, and Amazon. The sophistication it offers makes it clear why these clients chose this tool, but this is very much an enterprise-level product.

Forms can contain hundreds of items, branding is easy, and they can integrate with many platforms.

12. 123FormBuilder

123formbuilder

123FormBuilder has great third-party platform integration, data exporting, anti-spam protection, and free internal technical support.

Its tools make it easy to design, embed, and analyze your forms efficiently and effectively.

It works great for both individuals and businesses. The former can sign up for free (though are limited to five forms and 100 submissions), with paid plans beginning at $250/year.

That said, the features offered on the free plan are less than many of the comparative plans offered by other tools.

What Google Form Alternative Is the Best?

The form creator that will work best for you is going to depend on the information that you want to collect, the people you want to target, and the purpose of your data collection. For this reason, there's no single form creator that is the best for everyone.

Try out the free tiers or trials of the services above and see if they're more effective than Google Forms for your needs.

Decided these aren't right for you? That's totally fine. Google Forms has plenty of advanced features that make it a great choice for many people.
