Sometimes , words evolve . Just check the list of words added this year to the Merriam's Dictionary . Just google that thing . Google ain't a verb but is gradually becoming one . The same case is for the Internet !

Firefox (all the blockers and security I can fit on it).
Linux (except at work, Win7 there).
I bounce around my bookmarks and usually link off of them for new information/visits.
Duckduckgo for most of my searches.
    Google as a last resort.

I open up my bookmarks (Firefox), then visit them in turn. Almost all my searches are performed from selected text from a pages I visit. Your searches reveal your thoughts, so I tend not to search directly. I use Startpage, but don't really trust it that much (like the others) so I tend to be coy with that too.

Just goes to show that 85% of all statistics are made up.

I never start my web activity with a search.
I only do searches when I have to. Sometimes I do not do a search for days.
I have found much information on the Internet to be erroneous.
I realize that the highest placed search results go to the highest bidder.
    I use FF and DuckDuckGo.
I have my favorite online retailers which I access through a bookmark, I don't serche for them.

I Have Some Religious Bookmarks I Visit Everyday.

I Use CHROME34, OPERA21 And IE8 On This Priority Order.

I Am A Dinosaur XP DieHard, And I Still Use IE Because Of 2 Main Reasons ( By My Experience ):

A - It Is The Fastest For Streaming Video,

B - It Is The One Who Kills The Most Pop Ups ( If Configured The Best Way ).

    Credit Where It Is Due.

I use Chrome, I changed from FireFox after many years due to never ending problems with slow loading etc. My homepage is a customised set of 16 Speed-dials although I have 16 memory keys programed to the same links (for speed). I use Google as my main search engine but have tried various others. but rarely use it as 95% of the sites I visit are stored in my bookmarks or as speed-dials.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, I find it strange that users (my wife included) have Google as their homepage.

i currently use both firefox and chrome on ubuntu 14.04. chrome is default.
still the fact that all these numbers start their day with a search goes with the fact that a lot of users have google as their home page, or to test their internet connectivity
and about the people using IE. i bet most of them use it just because it's already installed there, or the default browser or no body told them to get a good browser. not that it is good.

I use IE10 , Chrome 34, Opera 21 and Firefox 29. All my browsers are updated to the latest flavours. I use 64bit Windows 8, again with all windows update done.

However, all my browser has one common thing. The home page of all of them is the Google search page. :D

So my web usage is totally in sync with this article findings.
