Instagram For Android 5.1 Update Makes It Faster; iOS Gets Slider For Lux Effect

Popular photo and video sharing tool Instagram has released a major update for its Android app which the company claims will make it faster and simpler to use. The v5.1 update’s sleek interface is the ideal time to get involved in the Instagram movement on Android.


The app’s size has been cut in half, profiles load twice as fast, and several design changes have been made. For instance, the buttons of in-app settings and editing photos appear in different places now, Mashable reports. The Verge spoke to engineering manager Philip McAllister who says that the new version is much easier to use on low-resolution and low-powered devices. Instagram wrote in a blog post:

By making our design cleaner, we’ve also made Instagram for Android easier to use. We’ve simplified our visuals throughout our app, making use of valuable screen space for small devices and feature phones and rearranging our design to keep buttons within easy reach as you navigate the app on a larger device.

On iOS, Instagram has been updated to include a new slider for the Lux Effect. This lets users make the effect stronger or lighter. The Lux Effect has a simple job of enhancing any photo by making its colours more vibrant. You can get the slider by updating the Instagram app on your iOS device.

    "Instagram For Android 5.1" Yeah well when Android 5.1 comes out this might be relevant but in the mean time Android is only up to 4.4.2 - Or did you mean Instagram 5.1 for Android

    I like the latest updated version of this app which is much lighter than the previous one. Even the app now consumes less power unlike earlier version. Usually if we update most of the app on android phone it might be possible that along with the update there are some bugs present their which create bad impact on battery life. So I recently purchased a wireless charger for Nexus 5 so that I keep my battery fully charged in order to explore more apps.
