As you might expect from an app started by one of Google’s first ten employees, integrates nicely with Android and has a simple, clean interface. It isn’t just another free app that displays ads or pushes you to upgrade, either – it’s ad-free and has no paid, premium version.


Launch and you’ll see three different panes — Contacts, Chats and Accounts. The accounts pane lets you manage your accounts, set status messages and select a buddy icon.

Long press a contact and you’ll see a screen with more information about that contact. From here, you can set an alias for the contact, which you’ll see instead of the contact’s screen name. For quick access to a contact, you can tap Favorite so they’ll always appear at the top of your contacts list or tap Shortcut to add a shortcut to your home screen. The shortcut will instantly launch a chat with your contact.

The contacts list also includes a few other features – you can tap the menu button to start a group chat or search your chat history (if you have the history feature enabled).


The chats pane lists your in-progress conversations and  displays a preview of the most recent message. You’ll see a blue chat bubble icon if a conversation has new messages.

    I have an iOS phone and there is no where to sign out or in or even change my status as soon as I push on my imo button on the phone every one sees I an online I even went to my imo setting and phone setting but there was nothing to change. I think this program sometimes downloads with a glitch
    What do you suggest???

    Nice features. We are using CD Messenger on our office for internal office communication. Its all in one software. Multi featured office messenger.

    Good for now.  Skype always forces 3rd party clients to stop working, so enjoy the skype support while it lasts.

      That's true. Lots of the big chat networks don't like third-party clients and have made it very tough for them, historically speaking.

    I'm using it with Google Chat and it sends links to the person I'm chatting to without my knowledge.  There isn't a way to turn this off, so I'm uninstalling it.

      That's odd. What links does it send? I believe you can enable or disable a "Using" status message, if that's what you're talking about.

      Tap the status message on the Accounts tab and uncheck the "Add imo to my status" option to disable it.

    Facebook login does not works on Galaxy Ace :( Also Skype login lost connection, on Galaxy Ace.

      Ouch, that's no good.

      As far as I know, it uses the same web-based system as the web app, which means they handle login and connection states on their servers. I'm unsure what the problem could be.
