imgur Is A Fantastic Chrome Extension For Uploading And Sharing Photos

Dave LeClair 20-10-2012

imgur is a fantastic way to share photos for many reasons. It loads extremely fast, is easy to use, and does not have all the restrictions that some other photo sharing sites have. There is a reason that the picky folks at Reddit use imgur as their go-to place for sharing the latest memes and other awesome photographs.

I’ve tried almost every photo sharing service on the web, and no matter what, I always find myself coming back to imgur because there just is nothing better. Well if you use Chrome, you can make imgur even better with its Chrome extension.

This awesome extension adds features that dedicated imgur users will absolutely love. Just like imgur itself, the extension is incredibly easy to use. It is packed with convenient features, and is a must-have extension for anyone who loves sharing pictures on the Internet. It makes getting that all important Reddit karma quicker and easier than ever before.

Getting this extension up and running is incredibly easy. You simply need to visit its page on the Chrome Webstore and click “Add to Chrome.” It will take a few seconds to install, and you will be ready to start making the most of sharing your photos.

You can also connect the extension to through its API. This allows you to make full use of your imgur account through the extension. This way, when you upload a photo to imgur with the extension, it will go to your images folder on your imgur account. You can use the extension without this, but connecting it allows you to make the most of the features imgur offers.

The icon for the extension simply brings you to a webpage where you can execute all of the extension’s cool features.

This extension does all kinds cool stuff with imgur that is designed to make your life easier. My personal favorite is the ability to copy and paste images directly to it from your clipboard. This means you can press Print Screen, and paste the screenshot right onto the extension’s screen for easy sharing. You can also see an image on the web and copy and paste it to have it uploaded to imgur in an instant. It is, without a doubt, one of the quickest ways I have ever seen to upload pictures.

You can also drag and drop images to the extension to upload them. This is very easy to do, and it works exactly as you would expect. Images upload incredibly quickly, which is a staple of imgur.

The extension adds a “rehost image” option to the right-click menu on all photos. This allows you to take any picture and upload it to imgur in an instant. Once you do this, the image will show up on the extension page automatically.

All of your uploaded images show up on the extension page, and on there, you have some options for messing with the photos. Mousing over an image will bring up a few links. On the top left, you have the option to make a meme with it, on the top right you can quickly edit the images. On the bottom of the image you can delete the image and copy its URL.

On the top of the extension page you will see an option to download and delete all of your images. You can access the options for imgur account.

On the options page you can choose whether to freeze GIFs, whether to copy link to clipboard when you use the right-click rehost option, whether to open a new tab on rehost, and some other useful options. It’s not the most tweakable extension on the market, but its default settings do exactly what you need them to.

Overall, this is a great extension if you use imgur all the time. It has lots of options and features, and it works exactly as advertised. If you like sharing images, this is an extension that you need to have installed on your computer.

Did you try to re-install the extension? It's back in the Chrome Web Store under the same link as above. Must have been a temporary thing.

Really nice.. But yeah, as Mac Witty said above, having a heavy extension does slow down your browser loading time...

Thank you, one more service I forgot it existed. Extensions are good as it makes things easier to use but with many and with "heavy" one it starts to slow down the browser. Various extensions seems to different heavy and I was wondering if anyone knows how hard this is?
