Are you a fan of Apple Maps on your iOS device? Have you ever thought about using it in your browser? As it turns out, you can, and you don’t need to do anything crazy to get it up and running!
All you need to do is head to Fruitymaps.com (Update! This site is now defunct.) and use the search box like you would on an iPhone or iPad. There’s no crazy hacking or backdoor workarounds required on your end.
Developer Tim Broddin used Apple’s non-documented API to create the web app, and it works surprisingly well, considering he only made it as proof of concept. Broddin also says he plans to keep updating the web app as he discovers more of the code, so more features should be added over time.
However, one thing to note is that this was made without Apple’s consent, and it could be taken down at any point, so if you want to try it out to see what Apple could be working on down the road, you might want to do it sooner than later.
Will you use Apple Maps in your browser or do you already love another service?
