Facebook Messenger has a tainted reputation because it’s been known to kill your battery life. (Here’s how you can know which apps are draining battery.) But even so, millions of people still use it. Why? Because it’s just so convenient and useful.
And I don’t just mean for conversations. Messenger can do a LOT of neat things, such as send money to friends, share Spotify tracks, and even play Chess with a single command. Now here’s another one — a practical one — that you should know about: you can order Uber right from within the app.
Here’s how it works: Any time an address is mentioned in a Messenger conversation, all you have to do is tap on it and you’ll see an option called Request a Ride. The app will let you know when Uber is on the way, how long before it reaches you, and give you periodic updates.
It’s not available in all cities yet, but it’s rolling out as quickly as it can. Your first ride is even free!
