Many people scoffed when Microsoft announced that it was releasing a $150 controller for the Xbox One, but in spite of that, it seems to be selling quite well — so well that it’s nearly impossible to find anymore. As of now, it’s out of stock until December.
If you need a fancy controller for games, what are you to do? There are ways to get one, but sadly it’ll cost you.
Get the Elite Console
You can snag an Elite Xbox One console from the Microsoft store right now and it’ll ship on November 25. This console costs $499 and includes a 1 TB hybrid drive and the Elite controller.
If you don’t have an Xbox One yet, this is a viable option. If you already own one, this is a harder pill to swallow, but you can always sell your existing Xbox One to absorb some of the cost.
Find One on eBay
Whenever supply runs out, people flock to eBay and sell theirs at a premium. Right now, these are selling for around $250 so you’re looking at about $75+ markup over retail. As these things go, that’s really not that bad, and it’ll save you quite a bit of waiting.
Check Local Stores
These days, we tend to forget that local stores still exist. Big video game retailers like GameStop are likely sold out, but mom-and-pop shops might have some in stock. It can’t hurt to call the big places just in case, too!
Check Local Classifieds
If you don’t mind dealing with strangers face-to-face, a look on Craigslist is always an option. If you can’t find any there, check your local newspaper and see if you can dig one out there!
If you don’t want to pay exorbitant prices or exert lots of effort, your only other option is to wait it out. So, what are you going to do? Tell us in the comments below!
