Netflix allows you to delete some or all of your watch history. This is a handy feature to use whether you want to delete content from your Continue Watching row or train Netflix to provide better recommendations.

Read on to find out how to delete your Netflix watching history to clear up those titles that you'll never finish and fine-tune your Netflix recommendations further to suit your interests.

How to Delete Shows & Movies From Your Netflix History

The platform makes it easy to delete recently watched movies or shows or completely delete your watching history on Netflix. Unfortunately, the dedicated Netflix apps don't have this functionality yet, at the time of writing, so you'll need to use the platform's website instead.

Follow these steps to delete your Netflix watching history:

First, head over to Netflix.com, select the drop-down arrow in the top right corner, and choose Account.

Scroll down to the Profile & Parental Controls section and click on your profile. This will open your profile's setting options. It's important to note that your watching history is tied to Netflix profiles. So if you have several profiles on your account, you'll need to select the right one.

Then, select Viewing Activity to check your Netflix watch history. One thing to note is Netflix displays individual episodes separately for TV shows.

Finally, click the Hide icon adjacent to the title or episode on the far right to remove it from your watch history. If you hide a single episode of a TV show, Netflix will give you an option to hide the entire series. If that's what you want, click Hide series to confirm.

Can't see the title you wish to remove? Scroll down and click the Show More button to view more titles. Alternatively, if you want to delete all your Netflix history without breaking a sweat, scroll down and hit the Hide all option, then confirm by selecting Yes, hide all my viewing activity.

If you wish to start afresh but don't want to clear your entire watch history, you can create a new Netflix profile, which is one of the Netflix settings you need to change to make your experience better.

Despite the profile you're using on Netflix, you can view and hide the watch history of multiple Netflix profiles under your account from the Activity page.

If you can't see the option to hide a show or movie, you might be accessing the activity page using a Netflix Kids profile. You can switch to an Adult profile by clicking the account switcher icon in the top right and selecting a different profile.

What Happens When You Delete Your Netflix History?

When you delete your Netflix history, the streaming platform will remove the movie or series from your watch history within 24 hours across all your devices. The title will no longer appear as something you've watched in the past. Of course, unless you watch the title again.

Additionally, since Netflix uses your watch history to recommend titles, it won't use that title to suggest new content. Netflix will also remove the title from your Continue Watching row if it was something that you haven't watched fully.

Remember, there are other ways to remove content from your Continue Watching row on Netflix without going through these steps. Deleting content from Continue watching is one of the ways you can manage what you watch on Netflix without a fuss.
