Christmas is a great time to be a movie lover: there are countless re-runs of classic films on television, lots of "Special Edition" Hollywood flicks being released on DVD and Blu-ray, and near-endless discounts on movie merchandise in stores.

But this is the 21st century. No one really buys DVDs anymore, do they? And your 75-year-old granddad probably isn't interested in a Yoda T-shirt. Match his slippers, it does not.

But don't worry. If you're buying a present for a film aficionado this Christmas, you're in luck. We've put together the ultimate list of gift ideas for movie lovers of all ages.

Keep reading to discover the perfect gift for the movie lover in your life...

1. KLUTZ LEGO Make Your Own Movie Kit

Do you dream of being a Hollywood director? It's an unachievable goal for most people, but that doesn't mean you can't still make your own movie. And it doesn't have to look like a terrible 1970s B-movie.

Step forward the KLUTZ LEGO Make Your Own Movie Kit. It teaches you how to make stop-motion animations. It includes 36 LEGO pieces, ranging from men and women to props and scenery.

You use your phone or tablet to record the footage, and the accompanying 80-page book guides you through the principles of the artform. As you progress, you'll learn about more complex skills such as lighting, sound effects, and camera angles.

2. AAXA P2-A Projector

Choosing a projector isn't easy. You'll find hundreds of models at wildly different price points. Luckily, we've done some of the hard work for you; we've already assessed the best projectors available today.

If you're looking for a budget product that works with a phone, tablet, and computer, check out the AAXA P2-A.

The portable, battery-powered device offers both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. It runs on Android and is even touchscreen compatible.

On the downside, it might not be suitable in a professional environment. Our testing found that small text can look fuzzy.

3. 100 Years of Olympic Films

Most people no longer see value in purchasing DVDs of old films. It's too easy to find them on services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. It's also much cheaper.

But there are still some occasions where DVD boxsets are a better choice, and 100 Years of Olympic Films is one such example.

With footage from every summer and winter Olympic Games from 1912 to 2012, the DVDs include restored video from the International Olympic Committee. You can relive some of the Olympic movement's most iconic moments, including Jesse Owens' world records in Berlin 1936, the first women's marathon in Los Angeles 1984, and the first Paralympic entrants in London 1948.

4. Ticket Shadow Box

True movie lovers probably have a drawer full of old movie stubs that they don't want to throw away. Perhaps they were lucky enough to go a few premieres, or maybe the stubs have sentimental value.

Rather than letting them all gather dust, why not help the person put them on display? One solution is a Ticket Shadow Box. Just affix it to a wall, and the owner can drop stubs into it at their leisure.

Users who have bought the product say it can comfortably hold more than 100 tickets.

5. Roku Ultra

In mid-2017, Roku refreshed its entire hardware line-up. The decision was long overdue; the company previously offered too many competing models, leading to confusion among customers.

Today, there are just five Roku models: the Express, Express+, Streaming Stick, Streaming Stick+, and Ultra.

Ultra is the most expensive of the five, but it's also the most powerful. It supports 4K resolution, ships with an ethernet port as well as wireless capabilities, and includes a USB and microSD port so you can expand its storage.

6. Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control

If the movie lover in your life is a dedicated cord cutter, they probably have a mountain of remote controls on their coffee table. Almost every set-top box and streaming stick comes with one, and then there's the TV, DVD player, cable box, air conditioning, Hi-Fi, and any smart home device.

Buying an all-in-one universal remote lets people cut back on the clutter. Again, there are many models to choose from; we have looked at some of the best universal remotes elsewhere on the site.

But if you want the best, you need to splash out on the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control. It works with up to 15 devices at a time, lets you pre-program 50 favorite channels and apps, and is compatible with Amazon Alexa.

7. A MoviePass Subscription

In 2017, a new service called MoviePass exploded onto the scene. For $9.95/month, a subscription lets the cardholder watch one film per day in cinemas around the United States.

Currently, 4,000 movie theaters and 36,000 screens are participating in the project.

Best of all, there are barely any restrictions. You can go to opening night screenings and on high-demand days such as Halloween and Christmas Eve. The only noteworthy constraint is that 3D movies are not part of the package.

All the owner of the subscription needs is a smartphone, as bookings are made through the official MoviePass app.

8. Northpoint GM8282 Lightbox

We live in a digital age, but many movie theaters still use traditional lightboxes to advertise upcoming films to would-be cinema-goers.

Of course, you don't want the real thing; your partner might not be too happy about a 15-foot long monstrosity suddenly appearing above the television.

But you can still replicate that old-school movie theater feeling with a mini lightbox. One of the best of the Northpoint GM8282. It's 11.8 x 8.6 inches and comes with 109 letters, numbers, and symbols.

9. Eat What You Watch: A Cookbook for Movie Lovers

If the person you're buying for also loves cooking, this probably the best present you could possibly buy.

Eat What You Watch: A Cookbook for Movie Lovers features iconic recipes from famous movies. Whether you want to make the timpano from Big Night, the birthday cake from Sixteen Candles, or the deli fare from When Harry Met Sally, this book has it all.

The book is written by Andrew Rea, the guy responsible for the massively popular Binging with Babish YouTube channel.

10. Cuisinart CPM-100 Popcorn Maker

It's no good having all these fancy gadgets if you can't enjoy a tasty snack once you sit down to enjoy your movie of choice.

The Cuisinart CPM-100 Popcorn Maker will give you cinema-grade nibbles every time you want them. It works solely using hot air and can make up to 10 cups of popcorn in three minutes. It comes complete with a butter-melting tray and is entirely dishwasher-proof.

You can buy the product in white, red, pastel pink, or velvet.
