Google has launched a website dedicated to COVID-19. It contains a wealth of information and resources all about the illness, giving everyone a one-stop shop to visit when they want to learn more about the 2019 Novel Coronavirus.

With COVID-19 spreading around the world, controlling the flow of information about the illness is a challenge. There's a lot of misinformation out there, which is why Twitter is combatting coronavirus lies. And now Google is playing its part too.

Google Launches a COVID-19 Microsite

In a post on The Keyword, Google launched its website packed full of information and resources about COVID-19. It has launched the site based on the incredible spike in interest, with more people searching for "Coronavirus" than for "News" and "Weather".

While it's good that people are seeing to educate and inform themselves about COVID-19, there's a danger that they'll be exposed to misinformation, lies, and rumors instead. Hackers are even spreading malware through fake COVID-19 contact-tracing apps. Hence the need for a central depository full of facts and further reading.

The site, located at google.com/covid19/, gives an overview of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus, along with symptoms, prevention, and treatments. There are also links to other resources, data to help track the spread, and resources to help us all stay healthy.

Beyond the site, Google has also improved the way it's presenting results when you search for "Coronavirus". This will make it easier to find and view "authoritative information from health authorities alongside new data and visualizations."

Tech Companies Are Stepping Up to Help

Given that the COVID-19 pandemic is going to affect each and every one of us in some way, tech companies have a responsibility to do what they can to help. Even if that just means getting the right information out there to the general public.

As important as it is to educate yourself about COVID-19, reading about it 24/7 isn't good for your mental health. So be sure to take some time out while locked down. If that means watching Netflix, our guide to using Netflix has everything you need.
