As summer is about to kick off, it's time for another round of free games for Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus subscribers. As usual, the PS Store will update to add these games on the first Tuesday of the month (June 6) while the Xbox games become available on June 1 and 15.

Xbox Live

The first Xbox One game is SpeedRunners, a competitive platformer for up to four players that's great for couch multiplayer. You'll also receive the original Watch_Dogs, an open-world game that occurs in a version of Chicago where you can hack cars, cameras, and more city infrastructure. As a bonus, Gold owners can download a free DLC pack for the re-release of Phantom Dust, which is free-to-play.

Xbox 360 owners will receive Assassin's Creed III, an entry in the series that takes you to colonial America. They'll also get Dragon Age: Origins, the first game in the epic medieval RPG series.

Remember that if you have an Xbox One, you can play the Xbox 360 games through backwards compatibility.

PlayStation Plus

If you have a PS4, get ready for Killing Floor 2, a cop-op first-person shooter where you must work together to destroy zombies. The other PS4 title is Life is Strange, a graphic adventure in which you can rewind time and make decisions that change the future. Your character must use this ability to save her town from a storm.

On the PS3, you can play Abyss Odyssey, a platforming action game with a unique Art Nouveau art style. Also free on PS3 is WRC 5: World Rally Championship, a racing game based on the 2015 World Rally Championship.

Finally, PS Vita owners can pick up Neon Chrome, a top-down shooter with a cybernetic aesthetic. The Vita also receives Spy Chameleon, an arcade-puzzle game where you must stay hidden using your chameleon character's color-changing ability. Both Vita games are available for PS4 players as well, thanks to Cross-Buy.
