The Final Fantasy series is more of a legacy than a franchise. The turn-based fight mechanics, immersive story-lines, and colorful characters have long been a staple of FF games. Final Fantasy 15 turns the Final Fantasy franchise on its head.

It's not quite as new as these titles, but I'd add Overwatch to this list, too. It's the best multiplayer shooter of the year in my opinion, and is a blast for anyone to play.
