It’s been several years since Instagram introduced ads into your photo feed, but if you’re tired of seeing them, there appears to be a trick that rids your feed of all sponsored posts.
I have to admit, on a niche Instagram account where you’re following a very specific range of accounts, the ads can sometimes be quite relevant. But when it comes to my personal, more general account, it can get a little annoying.
So what do you have to do to see fewer ads, or even no ads at all, on Instagram? The trick according to Mashable is to just start hiding all ads. When you’re scrolling through your feed and you spot a sponsored post, tap the three dots above the image, and tap Hide This.
Instagram will ask you why you choose to hide the ad: it’s not relevant, you see it too often, or it’s inappropriate. If you don’t want ads to appear at all, you should label them as inappropriate. As you continue to do this, you’ll eventually develop an ad-free Instagram feed.
Since Instagram is offering users a free service, an argument could be made that a few ads in the mix should be endured. But if your feed is being overrun by ads, this trick should come in handy.
