A Cleaner Start Menu: Hide the All Apps List in Windows 10
Pinterest Stumbleupon Whatsapp

One of the most important features of Windows is the Start Menu, which has made a full return in Windows 10. It grants you access to all installed apps in one place, as well as hosts a variety of shortcuts. If you don’t like how it runs out of the box, there are plenty of customization options for the menu.

One change that the Anniversary Update brought was showing a full list of your apps at all times on the menu. This means that you don’t have to click an “all apps” button to expand the list. You might like the easy access to everything in the new version, but it can also clutter the screen if you’re going for a minimal approach.

Windows 10 Insiders can now hide this big app list from their Start Menu if they so desire. To access this setting, head to Settings > Personalization > Start and look for the Hide app list in Start menu option. This will once again keep your app list hidden; useful if it’s gotten out of hand.

If you’re not a Windows Insider, check out what it is and how to join (it’s free and easy if you’re adventurous!). You need to be running build 14942 or newer for this option to be available. To check which version is currently installed, open the Start Menu and type winver to view basic Windows installation info.
