  • Price: $199.99; compare to $799.99
  • Retailer: eBay – Buy it Now

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 offers relatively decent specs. However, I would point out that the 1280×1080 resolution isn’t the best by today’s standards. It’s definitely not the Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab Pro Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4-inch Review and Giveaway The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro is a solid performer. Just how solid? It includes a 90-day, Samsung warranty, along with a 14-day return period.

Apple iPad Mini 32GB (First Edition) [No Longer Available]

ipad mini first edition

  • Price: $299.99; compare to $429.99
  • Retailer: Newegg via eBay – Buy it Now

The first edition 7.9” iPad Mini comes with the older generation Apple A5 chipset. By modern standards, it’s still snappy and includes the latest iOS 7. For those of you looking to get into Apple’s ecosystem, for less than $500, this is a great deal. However, it is somewhat older and compares poorly to most Android tablets in specs.

Top Laptop Deals

Lenovo Flex 14 Laptop

  • Price: $549; compare to $799 MSRP
  • Retailer: Lenovo – Buy it Now
  • Coupon code:USPFL452514 (for free shipping)

The Lenovo offers state of the art specs and converts into a tablet, just by swinging the screen 300 degrees. It offers a CULV (consumer ultra-low voltage) variant on the Haswell Core i3 CPU, which tend to run a bit more than the mobile version of the Core i3. It also includes an 8GB SSD boot drive, a 500GB storage drive, 4GB of RAM and Windows 8, 64-bit.

On the downside, the resolution isn’t all that great and the RAM is on the small side.

Overall, for a flexible, current generation laptop with a CULV CPU, $549 is a good deal. However, if you aren’t into flexible touchscreens in an Ultrabook-like form factor (what’s an Ultrabook? BenQ 27” WQHD 2560 x 1440 LED Monitor [Broken URL Removed]

Unfortunately, most LED backlit monitors come with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). PWM allows monitors to dynamically adjust brightness – unfortunately, in most LED and some fluorescent monitors, this introduces a high rate of screen flicker, which greatly contributes to eye strain. BenQ’s monitor doesn’t use PWM and, thus, doesn’t contribute to eye strain.

It’s pretty rare to see a monitor of this type at such a discount. However, keep in mind the 1,000:1 contrast ratio – most users won’t be able to notice the difference, but some will. Blacks may not display with the same darkness on monitors with a higher contrast ratio. But your eyes will thank you.
