You know what’s literally the worst? Wires. Being tethered to wires in this day and age feels about the same as calling a friend with two tin cans and string.
Are you aware of what isn’t the worst? You guessed it: wireless stuff. Specifically wireless headphones. Saving money by getting a pair of the best wireless headphones under $100 would be even better.
We’ve already taken a look at the best Bluetooth earbuds under $50, and while those options are totally fantastic, sometimes you just need a little more. If you’re willing to double your budget, you’ll get more features and better sound quality—which you could say is music to your ears!
What Are the Best Wireless Headphones Under $100?
We’re going to dig in and look at a few of the best wireless headphones you can get your hands on. These won’t necessarily rival the quality of a pair of top-of-the-line headphones or earbuds, but they will still offer better sound quality than the cheapest of budget models.
In order to make the cut, we want to see strong user and professional reviews across the board, high-quality sound, comfort, and durability (in models that have been on the market for an extended period of time).
The Best Over-Ear Wireless Headphones Under $100
First, we’re going to take a look at headphones that either sit on your ear or go over them. If you want booming sound and headphones that’ll block out the outside noise, these are the types you’re going to want to go with.
When it comes to quality audio, Sennheiser is a brand that always comes up. The Sennheiser HD 4.40s fall right into that $100 sweet spot where you get quality audio, but they won’t hit your wallet too hard.
These headphones promise battery life up to 25 hours, and they come with an audio cable for going old school, so you’ll never have to worry about whether or not your headphones have enough juice to keep going.
These are actually the headphones I own and have been using for the last couple of years, and I couldn’t be happier with them. For the price, the Skullcandy Hesh 2s are comfortable and offer good sound. As a nice bonus, they look great in all three available colors (blue, black, and silver).
The main reason they aren’t higher on the list is the battery life. Compared to the HD 4.04s’ 25 hours, these only get about 15. It’s still solid, and long enough to get most people through the day.
If you prefer the on-ear design instead of over-the-ear, the Jabra Move Wireless headphones are a great option. The battery life won’t blow you away, as these will only last for up to eight hours. They have over 1000 reviews on Amazon and a 3.9/5 rating, which is high enough to recommend.
Like all headphones at this price point, they aren’t perfect and could definitely sound better. However, at this price point, these are one of the best pairs of on-ear headphones you’ll find, and they’re definitely worth picking up.
The Best Bluetooth Earbuds Under $100
Looking for a pair of wireless earbuds that are easy to carry around and lightweight? You might want to consider some Bluetooth earbuds, as they offer wireless performance without the large form factor of on and over the ear headphones.
The Plantronics BackBeat FIT earbuds are perfect for anyone who does a lot of working out with their headphones in. They’re specifically designed to be flexible and water resistant, so they can handle the trauma that you will put them through while exercising.
They come with a battery life of around eight hours, which is solid for a pair of earbuds (they can’t contain batteries as large due to the smaller form factor).
If you’re only concerned with sound quality and you’re not worried about sweat, the Jaybird Tarahs are perfect for you. They’ll last for about six hours of continuous play, which isn’t the most mind-blowing battery life, but it’s not bad for the size of these earbuds. Also, they have fast-charging technology that allows them to get an hour of play time from just 10 minutes of charging.
The Best True Wireless Earbuds Under $100
When it comes to truly wireless earbuds for under $100, you’ll find tons of them out there on Amazon, but very few come with good reviews. However, you’re not completely out of luck, because there are a couple pairs that we feel comfortable recommending.
We’ve previously reviewed the Zolo Liberty Plus, and while we weren’t in love with them, for $150 felt they offered pretty decent sound quality and some solid features. The Zolo Libertys are very similar, but offer a shorter battery life than their more expensive sibling.
Still, if you want to keep things under $100, these will do the job. Just make sure you go in with your expectations in check—these aren’t going to rival a pair of Bose, Sennheiser, or Beats earbuds.
Another fantastic option if you’re looking to stay right at $100, and you don’t want to deal with wires, are the True EVOs from Altec Lansing. While they won’t completely blow you away with what they’re bringing to the table in terms of audio quality (no true wireless headphones will at this price point), reports indicate that they sound decent. If you want the portability while remaining cheap, you’re going to need to give up something!
You Don’t Need to Spend a Fortune on Headphones
When it comes to wireless headphones, gone are the days of needing to spend hundreds of dollars to get good sound and battery life. Now, you can drop just $100 (or even less in some cases) and walk away with a comfortable pair of headphones that’ll offer great sound.
Will they rival the best wireless headphones that cost $300 or more? Not necessarily, but unless you’re a hardcore audiophile, and so want noise-cancelling headphones for audiophiles, you’d be hard pressed to notice a huge difference in sound quality.
