Not everyone wants a phablet. Some people don't even want a regular five inch display. They just want the smallest smartphone they can find.

Today, we're going to look at the best small smartphones that are available right now. We'll conclude with a couple of other mini phone options you may not have considered before.

The Best Small Smartphone: Unihertz Jelly Pro

Measuring just 3.6 x 1.7 x 0.5 inches, the Unihertz Jelly Pro is one of the smallest fully-functioning smartphones you'll be able to find.

It weighs 2.13 ounces, so it's ideal if you want to strap it to your arm while you jog or work out in the gym.

The Unihertz Jelly Pro runs on Android 7.0 and can connect to 4G networks. Under the hood, you'll find 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The screen is 2.45 inches.

Perhaps unexpectedly, the camera is decent too. There's an eight megapixel rear-facing shutter and a two megapixel front-facing one. There is also a built-in gyroscope and a headphone jack.

Unfortunately, if you want such a tiny device, you're going to have to compromise on some features. The Unihertz Jelly Pro does not support Android Auto, USB On-The-Go, or CDMA carriers.

A Mini Smartphone: iLight 7s

Another small Android phone worth considering is the iLight 7s. Amazingly, with dimensions of 1.81 x 0.39 x 3.74 inches, it is even smaller than the Unihertz Jelly Pro.

Given the reduced size, it should come as no surprise to learn that the phone is less powerful than its rival. There is just 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. If you only want to make calls and use WhatsApp, the device is adequate. For anything more, you will find it sorely lacking in power.

At 2.4 inches, the screen is also smaller than the Unihertz model.

The design of the iLight 7s appears to have been heavily influenced by pre-iPhone X iOS devices. There's a single circular button below the screen that functions as Android's Home button. The chassis is made of metal too, further mimicking the older iPhone design.

The Best Small Android Phone: Sudroid SOYES Super Mini

Another of the best small smartphones in the world is the Sudroid SOYES Super Mini. It's one of the most popular mini smartphones among users.

Like the Unihertz Jelly Pro, it is only compatible with GSM carriers. In the United States, that means the phone will not work with Sprint, Verizon, Boost, or Virgin.

Considering the phone is just 1.69 x 3.39 x 0.35 inches, we were impressed to learn that it offers dual SIM capabilities. If you frequently find yourself hopping between countries and want a small Android phone, the Sudroid SOYES is a solid choice.

The phone has a 2.4 inch screen, a five megapixel rear-facing camera, a two megapixel front-facing camera, a 600mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. There's also a quadcore CPU.

An Alternative Small Android Phone: Anica i8

At 2.5 inches, the screen on the Anica i8 is slightly larger than the other phones on the list. Its additional 0.1 inches might not sound like much, but at such small scales, every extra pixel matters.

The device itself is 3.5 x 1.77 x 0.31 inches and weighs 7.05 ounces. That's notably more than some of the other phones we've discussed. For the extra weight, you gain improved speakers, Bluetooth support, and dual SIM support.

On the downside, the phone only runs Android 6.0, so it's one entire release cycle behind the Unihertz device.

Unfortunately, the camera on the Anica phone is markedly worse than the ones found on its rivals. The rear-facing lens is two megapixels, while the front-facing one is just 0.3 megapixels.

An Unusual Tiny Smartphone: Palm

The Palm is arguably the most unusual smartphone you'll come across.

Best described as a phone for your phone, the Verizon-exclusive device is a $350 smartphone that aims to make you slightly less dependent on your primary device.

The phone, which is designed by former Samsung executives, lets you partially disconnect from all the noise and distractions on your main device. If you use your phone for business, the Palm is an excellent way to cut loose at weekends or when you're on vacation.

To set up the phone, use the accompanying app to sync the Palm with your primary device. You can still receive calls, messages, and other essential alerts.

The Palm smartphone includes the full Android operating system, has a 12 megapixel camera, and measures just 1.99 x 3.8 inches. The battery lasts for around 7.5 hours.

The World's Thinnest Phone: AIEK M5

The AIEK M5 is the thinnest phone in the world. It is so thin that it can comfortably slip inside a credit card pouch in a purse or wallet. The exact dimensions of the phone are 3.3 x 2.1 x 0.2 inches. The phone only weighs 0.64 ounces.

Once again, it's an ideal device for people who want to work out without a bulky traditional phone, or for people who want to stay connected discreetly. That is, connected in a limited way as the AIEK M5 is only a feature phone.

The AIEK M5 uses the 2G network. It is quad-band, and the 320mAh battery lasts for three days (with a talktime of three hours). Despite the size, the device has a loudspeaker and supports Bluetooth. Incredibly, the screen is just one inch.

As you may have guessed, the phone does not offer internet connectivity.

What About the Smallest iPhone?

Apple discontinued its last remaining four inch device---the iPhone SE [Broken URL Removed]---in September 2018. You can still buy a refurbished one on Amazon, but it is no longer sold in official Apple stores.

The smallest iPhone device still being sold is the iPhone 7. It measures 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 inches and has a 4.7 inch screen.

Could You Really Use a Mini Smartphone?

There will always be exceptions, but it's unlikely that mini smartphones will provide enough functionality to be most people's main device.

If you're wondering which Android gadget you should buy as a primary phone, it would be worth considering one of these incredibly powerful Android phones. You may also want to run through some questions to help you decide which smartphone to get.
