One of the best free streaming services is Sony Crackle. But which free TV shows on Crackle are worth watching? Keep reading to find out.
1. Charlie's Angels
The original Charlie's Angels---which was first broadcast on ABC in 1976---is available on Crackle.
The crime drama tells the story of three female private investigators who, unhappy with their assigned roles after graduating from the police academy, decide to go and work for the Charles Townsend Agency.
A number of well-known celebrities played guest roles, including Tommy Lee Jones, Timothy Dalton, Kim Basinger, and Sally Kirkland.
The show ran for five seasons, with the first two seasons widely regarded as being the most enjoyable.
2. The Company
The Company is a three-part miniseries which originally aired on TNT in 2007. The series chronicles the activities of the CIA over a 40-year period during the Cold War.
The action kicks off in 1955 when the fictional Jack McAuliffe is posted to a CIA station in East Berlin. It goes on to touch on momentous points in history such as the Hungarian Revolution, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Chris O'Donnell and Michael Keaton both play leading roles.
3. Marvel Anime: Iron Man
Marvel Anime consists of four TV shows (Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and Blade) and two feature-length films (Iron Man: Rise of Technovore and Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher).
The Iron Man series was the first off the production line; it aired in Japan in 2010. The plot sees Tony Stark head to Japan to create a power station and to show off his new armor. Predictably, the situation quickly spirals out of control.
Adrian Pasdar is the voice actor for Tony Stark in the English language version.
4. Snatch
Fans of British crime comedy will be well-aware of the movie, Snatch. Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Brad Pitt and Jason Statham, the central plot revolves around the search for a stolen diamond.
Perhaps less well-known is that Snatch was rebooted as a TV series in 2017. It's a Crackle Original and hasn't been on regular television channels.
The storyline is different---a truck full of gold is central to the plot---but several themes from the original movie have carried over, including the penchant for a wide assortment of characters.
Two seasons and 20 episodes are currently available to watch.
5. Pan Am
Set in the early 1960s as the era of commercial plane travel began, Pan Am is a drama that tells the story of a company's pilots and flight attendants.
It was first shown on ABC in 2011 but was canceled after just one series. But don't let the series' cancellation put you off. It won the Best Series award at Europe's version of the Emmys, and Amazon almost picked it up for a second series before negotiations broke down.
Margot Robbie and Christina Ricci play the lead roles.
6. NewsRadio
NewsRadio is a late-1990s American sitcom. After its launch in 1994, the show ran for five series and 97 episodes until its eventual conclusion.
The series revolves around the goings-on at the fictional New York radio station, WNYX. It earned a cult following thanks to its heavy use of historical satire and obscure pop culture references.
Some of the most notable actors in the series include Dave Foley as the news director and Joe Rogan as a handyman.
7. Dilbert
Dilbert is one of the most popular comic strips in the world. After first appearing in April 1989, it has since been licensed to more than 2,000 newspapers in 65 countries around the world.
The TV series of the same name dates back to 1999. It was first shown on Paramount and quickly became the network's highest-rated comedy series. Only two seasons and 30 episodes were produced.
Storylines revolve around white collar office humor. The first series follows the brainstorming, testing, and release of a new (ill-conceived) product. There's no story arc in the second series.
8. Hatfields and McCoys
Hatfields and McCoys is a three-part miniseries that was first broadcast on the History Channel in 2012. Each episode runs for two hours.
The show tells the story of the bitter post-US Civil War feud between two families in the area of West Virginia and Kentucky. It went on to win several awards, including a Golden Globe, five Emmys, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Kevin Costner plays the role of William Hatfield. Bill Paxton takes the part of Randolph McCoy.
9. From the Basement
It's not very often that a music-based TV series is worth recommending, but From the Basement bucks the trend.
The series began life as a podcast in which prominent musicians would play live performances without a host or audience. Following rave reviews, the UK's Sky Arts network funded a TV show which went live in 2006.
Only two series and 13 episodes were recorded, but for true music lovers, it's a great watch. Some of the artists who performed include the White Stripes, Thom Yorke, Jarvis Cocker, Beck, Super Furry Animals, PJ Harvey, Damian Rice, Iggy Pop, and Queens of the Stone Age.
10. StartUp
StartUp is the second Crackle Original on our list. Three seasons are currently available; the most recent having aired in November 2018. There's no official word on a fourth season.
The plot tells the story of GenCoin. It's a new cryptocurrency which attracts multiple unsavory characters, including a Cuban-American hacker, a Haitian-American gang lord, and an out-of-control Wall Street banker.
A corrupt FBI agent links the story together. He provided the seed money for the venture and is now fixated on bringing down the criminal group.
Adam Brody and Martin Freeman take the two lead roles.
