Wacom is a company best known for their innovation in the art and design field with their range of professional and consumer graphics tablets. As modern do-it-all tablets like the iPad continue to collect more users, Wacom have branched out into the mobile space with some mini (and not so mini) styli, in particular the Bamboo Stylus Mini which is essentially the reason Wacom built this app.
Bamboo Loop is a visual messaging app for iOS which allows users to create “loops” of quick messages in-app, with a variety of visual styles. There’s no need for a stylus at all, though the range of inking tools will probably make you wish you had one. That’s the main aim here anyway, as the app itself is free to download and use albeit with a few pricey in-app purchases.
Wacom seem to have nailed the basics, and the app does its job well. The quirky styles and writing tools are fun to play with, and the rapid-fire approach to sending quick messages is bound to hold attention spans. Whether $1.99 for each new “style” is worth it is up to you, but remember there are some similar “full price” $1.99 apps out there that come with everything unlocked.
- Send quick “loops” back and forth with your friends.
- Take pictures, add styles.
- A variety of inking tools for realistic and artsy handwriting.
- Designed to promote the Bamboo Stylus Mini, though a stylus is completely optional.
