Amazon Adds Music Streaming To Prime

Amazon has officially launched Prime Music, which adds music streaming to the Amazon Prime service. Amazon Prime members, who currently pay $99 a year for their premium accounts, get immediate and unlimited access to around 1 million tracks, all without commercials.

Amazon Prime Music comes after months of negotiations with the major record labels. Prime members shouldn’t expect to find new bands on Prime Music, as every track is currently at least six months old. Still, curated playlists are a feature, and Prime Music is available through “Kindle Fire HD/HDX, iOS, Android, PC, Mac and any Web browser.

Tesla Opens Its Patents To The World

Tesla Motors has declared, “All Our Patent Are Belong To You,” using a silly meme to announce a rather serious development in the motor industry. Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote in a blog post, “Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.


This isn’t quite an open sourcing of Tesla’s technology, but rather a softening of the company’s approach to rivals infringing on its patents. The auction, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, will take place over 12 hours on June 27. Bidders are required to register by June 23, with a “refundable $200,000 wire transfer to a government bank” a prerequisite. These Bitcoin could raise around $20 million at current prices.
