Remember when you used to love snow days? As a kid they were the best excuse to not attend school, but as an adult your employer probably isn’t quite so understanding. Snow days no longer mean an automatic day off, and the developers of AlarMe know that. They understand that waking up at the normal time only to have to dig your way out of the driveway is going to make you late for work, and they thought of a plan.
AlarMe is a weather-aware alarm clock that can wake you up at differing times, depending on the rules you lay down for different conditions. Using AlarMe you can set your alarm to sound 30 minutes earlier in the event of snow, and conversely a little later if conditions are fine. The app is free and still in beta, so bugs may be present but the concept is a sound one.
AlarMe’s usefulness may appeal to you more if you live in a particularly changeable part of the world. You may also find it more useful in winter than in summer, when snow and ice are common causes for concern. The app works on Android version 2.2 or later. Features:
- Wake up later or earlier using pre-defined rules that listen to weather conditions.
- Rise earlier on snow days to dig your way out, have a lie-in on fine sunny days.
- Completely free and currently in beta, so bugs may occur (a possible problem if it’s your only alarm app at the moment)
