Spotify now lets you add podcasts to playlists. These can be new or existing playlists, and contain nothing but podcasts or a mix or music and podcasts. Either way, Spotify is making podcasts an integral part of its streaming service.
Podcasts are growing ever more popular. They have been a thing for many years now, but with more people producing podcasts and more places to listen to podcasts, more people are listening to them now than ever before. And Spotify is part of that push.
How to Add Podcasts to Spotify Playlists
Spotify’s latest effort to help the podcasting medium grow is giving users the option to add them to playlists. Spotify announced this in a post on For the Record, explaining how to add podcasts to playlists, and how to make use of this new feature.
Your playlists could use some podcasts.

You can use this function to either create a playlist full of podcasts, or create playlists with a mix of music and podcasts. The possibilities are endless, but we suspect most people will combine music and podcasts which share similar themes or moods.
Here’s how to add a podcast to a Spotify playlist:
- Open an episode of a podcast you want to add to a playlist.
- Tap the three dots in the top-right of the podcast episode.
- Tap “Add to Playlist”.
- Either select a playlist you have already created,
- Or tap “New Playlist”, name it, and tap “Create”.
It should be noted that this only makes sense when dealing with individual podcast episodes. If you’re looking to listen to all episodes of your favorite podcast(s) just search for the name, tap the three dots in the top-right, and then tap “Follow”.
