Facebook is finally making it easier to add more people to a call. Currently, if you’re having a one-on-one conversation with someone, you need to hang up, and start a whole new group chat in order to invite more people. But now, that is no longer the case.
In many ways, Facebook Messenger has become a bloated beast of an app . And all of this when some of the most requested features are still missing. However, Facebook has now added something actually useful… the ability to add more friends to a call.
Add More People to a Conversation
One of the main reasons to actually use Messenger is for video and voice chats. Unfortunately, while starting a one-on-one call was simple enough, group chats have been a little trickier to initiate. Something Facebook has finally seen fit to fix.
Now, you no longer have to hang up on your friend and then start a new conversation from your inbox. Instead, you can simply add more friends to your call, turning a one-on-one video or voice call into a group chat with up to 50 people. If you have that many friends.
To turn a one-on-one call into a group chat, simply tap the screen and select “Add person”. You can then choose who you want to invite to the conversation. Seconds later, those people will join your existing call, and you can carry on your conversation where you left off.
The filters and effects that many people seem to like (but I personally can’t stand) are all still available in group chats. And when the video or voice call ends Facebook will automatically create a group chat in your inbox.
Facebook Has Twisted Priorities
It’s amazing it has taken this long for Facebook to figure out that sometimes you might want to add more people to a call. And the fact that the social network found time to add endless games to Messenger before fixing this says a lot about Facebook’s priorities.
Do you regularly use Facebook Messenger? Do you generally like how it works? Or would you like Facebook to redesign parts of Messenger? What do you think of this option to add more friends to a call without hanging up? Please let us know in the comments below!
