This week we have an IAmA with a 90’s Nickelodeon star, a person who had a weird kind of relationship, some code cracking, the Reddit of the week, and more juicy bits of goodness. So sit back and get ready for the Best of Reddit.

IAmA with Danny Tamberelli

Danny Tamberelli is an actor famous for his roles in the 90’s. He was the star of popular TV show Pete and Pete, and cast member on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy show All That. He is one funny person. If you were a fan of Nickelodeon in the 90’s, this is a must read IAmA.

Danny tells all kinds of awesome stories ranging from him smoking on the set of TV shows at a young age, to a little make out session with Jessica Biel. It is a fascinating look into the life of a child star. The IAmA gives you a feel for what things were really like behind the scenes of some of Nickelodeon’s popular TV shows.

A Little Decoding on AskReddit

This is the tale of a homeless man who handed Reddit user delverofsecrets a 50-dollar bill and a strange piece of paper. On this piece of paper was some code. He had no idea how to solve it, so he turned to Reddit. Of course, the geniuses of Reddit cracked the code rather quickly. Then, he got a message in his inbox claiming to be the very same person. . .

I do not want to give it all away, just go to the page and read it. Seeing the Reddit community come together to figure out this weird situation has been a truly joyous experience. Even though it is over now, it is still worth reading for the pure entertainment value.

US Carriers Kill Innovation

This thread started from an article on The Verge about phone carriers being the main thing threatening innovation in the mobile space. The article itself is a fascinating read, and the Reddit thread is fantastic. Basically, the article says that US carriers have such strong control over which phones win and lose based on pricing, it is impossible for the creators of devices to innovate.

The general theme is that US phone carriers are evil, and I cannot say I disagree. I have “unlimited data” that is throttled every month, so it is hard for me to like them. Read the thread, read the article, and form your own opinion on the matter.

PC Gaming Isn’t Dead

Guess what folks, PC gaming is currently blowing up again. According to this article from CNN that I found on Reddit, PC gaming sales have grown by an astonishing 230%, while console gaming sales are down 28%.

The intelligent Reddit users go on to discuss why this might be, and what it means for the future of gaming. Many users cited Diablo 3 as a huge reason for this jump, and I would have to agree with them. For someone who just ordered a brand new gaming PC, seeing this made me incredibly happy.

Console gaming is terrible. I hate disks in every way.

    Danny Tamberelli?

I seriously thought they would interview Amanda Bynes about the recent DUI or Kenan Thompson about breaking through to SNL. I read that name and I thought it was Breaking Bad Bonaduce. Wonder if there's been much of a difference in terms of post-child star fame.

Although a quick browse recently revealed that someone is trying to have a Q&A with Drake Bell from "Drake & Josh." Might want to ask him why the producers let the show go downhill after Josh lost all that weight.

But it's the behind-the-scenes Nick folks that would be on my wishlist: Jim Jinkins who created "Doug," John Kricfalusi (sp?) who created "Ren & Stimpy," and *gold!* Mark Mothersbaugh, frontman of Devo, who did the music for Rugrats and Elizabeth (E.G.) Daily who did the voice of Tommy Pickles and also sings the theme song for "Two and a Half Men." She played Pee-Wee's girlfriend in the bicycle movie and sang the title theme song during the prom scene in "Better Off Dead."

I'd pay more than two dollars for any of those. ;)
