If you love to dress up your devices each holiday and season, the sheer number of wallpaper apps there are to choose from on the App Store provide something for every occasion.

Best of all they will provide you some festive, spooky, and comical choices just in time for Halloween.
Many of the wallpaper apps on the store are available for free, but are often ad-supported, have in-app purchases, or both. You should definitely check them out if you’re on the hunt for the best wallpapers, though!
Wallpapers HD (free)
Wallpapers HD offers thousands of wallpaper choices simply by downloading the app, allowing you to browse the many categories or search for exactly what you want. Images can be downloaded in fitted or full size and shared using your device’s default options.
The Halloween selection could be bigger, but there is still a variety to choose from for overall holidays. You can upgrade to the Gold version of the app for $4.99, which removes the ads.
10,000+ Wallpapers for iOS 8, iOS 7 and iPhone 6 (free) [No Longer Available]
Don’t pass by this one just because of the name. 10,000+ Wallpapers from Tick Tock Apps has wallpapers that look just great on iOS 9. You can check out the categories or search by keyword. Once you find that perfect picture, you can preview it, download it, share it on social media, or send it to a friend.
The selections for Halloween are quite diverse within this app, from cartoonish to creepy. And, there is a wallpaper for pretty much any holiday from Children’s Day to Memorial Day.w
This app from Turbo Fire may not have as many options as some other apps, but those that it does have are of a fairly high quality. Of course, there are the usual categories to browse through and a decent search tool to narrow down your selection.
There are a few categories that are specific to cities like New York and Paris and the selection of holiday wallpapers, including Halloween, is great.
Retina Wallpapers Free (Free)
Retina Wallpapers Free stands out from the crowd by allowing you to customize the wallpapers therein. From filters to frames and stickers to splash, you can edit any wallpaper in the app to give it that personal touch.
The selection of Halloween and other holiday wallpapers is modest, but the personalization feature alone makes this one worth the download. You can pay to remove the ads for just $0.99.
Zedge Ringtones and Wallpapers is worth a look as it provideds access to great backgrounds as well as ringtones and alert sounds too. Note that in order to download and use the ringtones from Zedge, you must install ToneSync which places the tones directly into iTunes. If you’re only interested in wallpapers, just download those you like and they will be saved to your device’s Zedge folder under Photos.
Check out the Featured or Popular tabs, search by keyword, or select one of the many categories. Zedge has a great selection of holiday backgrounds with plenty of cool ones just in time for Halloween.

Pimp Your Screen ($1.99)
Pimp Your Screen from Apalon Apps is a long-time favorite. The included images are gorgeous and look great in both portrait and landscape modes on the iPad. The app also comes with a home and lock screen maker so that you can customize your screens with text, icon skins, frames, and more.
Pimp Your Screen was recently updated to support iOS 9 and is now available on the Apple Watch. So, you can match your iPhone to your watch this Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
iTheme provides tons of wallpaper themes to dress up your home and lock screens at the same time. Check out their Top 50, what’s new, or browse the categories to find what you want. The app also offers ringtones, which once downloaded will need to be synced with iTunes (there is a handy in-app tutorial to help you).
As for the themes, edit those you see, save your favorites, view images from specific artists, or create your own photo themes with the $0.99 in-app purchase. For the upcoming scary holiday, check out both the Gothic and Halloween sections. For other special times, there are themes for the major holidays as well.
For True Personalization
When it comes to the holidays, maybe instead of a random wallpaper choice you would prefer to use one of your own photos. For Halloween try a photo of your kids in their awesome costumes or an image of the neat pumpkins they carved.
When Christmas grows near, try the holiday family photo from last year or one of your beautifully decorated tree. Do you prefer to use your own photos for wallpapers on your home and lock screens? Or, are you someone who browses the apps for something new to download?
