1. What's Tech

Let's start with the basics. Do you know what a graphics card is and which one to buy? Have you got an idea of what a drone is or how drones will benefit our lives?

2. Reply All

Deep dives into tech are terribly interesting. Reply All's objective is to take any one subject and take it part bit by bit, explaining every aspect of it.

For example, broadcasting your life over Periscope is common now. But they delved into the first person to get into lifelogging through a webcam. And then she stopped. Why did she stop, and what did she learn about the internet?

HowStuffWorks is one of those sites with something you've never seen or heard. It explains the inner mechanism of almost everything under the planet, from the planet itself to simpler things like your flush tank. They even have an incredible podcast with a wealth of information. But if what you want is tech alone, then their TechStuff podcast is what you need.

TechStuff covers a wide variety of topics again, but all related to technology. It focuses on figuring out the mechanics of a subject than offer cultural commentary. For example, it explained what you need to know about Google turning into Alphabet. Or you can find interesting facts about the internet and its history.

TechStuff has been around for some time now, but the quality is consistent. So you can jump into any episode you want or just start listening to the new episodes.

4. TechTalker

The TechTalker podcast is, in some ways, what MakeUseOf is all about. While it will give you tips and tricks you can actually use, it will also add a basic explanation of the technology itself.

Don't let the name throw you off. Yes, it stands for Weekly Analysis and News, but the news is kind of an afterthought. It's more about analyzing the tech behind the news, or just ignoring the news altogether.

TheWANShow is part of the LinusTechTips network, one of the best YouTube technology channels. Linus is an artist at explaining tech in simple terms, and he carries that expertise to the podcast. The difference is that it's a lot more candid and fun, as opposed to his polished videos. And much funnier too.

Their podcast on Intel's confusing processors is one of the best things you'll hear from a tech podacst.

6. The IoT Podcast

Stacey Higginbotham probably knows more than anyone about the internet of things (IoT) and how it'll change your life. Higginbotham has been experimenting with IoT technology since before tech geeks got into it.

She often covers topics that you will find in our Smart Home section, like how the Amazon Echo can make your home intelligent.
