Two of the more popular gaming genres on iOS are the endless runner and endless jumper game types. In these games, you are tasked with moving either forward or up through a level and attempt to survive as long as possible. As you move through the level, things get more difficult, and your skills are pushed to their maximum. This offers a great way to play on the go because you can pick the game up and play for just a couple of minutes and still have a great time.
Another thing that makes endless runners and jumpers so popular is the way they allow you to compete with your friends. You always have a goal of outlasting the other players on your friends list, and this keeps gamers coming back for more. While they may not be the deepest games available, they are well suited to mobile devices. Today, I am going to show you some endless runners and jumpers on iOS that are at the top of the heap. Without further ado, have a look at some of the best endless runners and jumpers on iOS.
This game brought the endless runner to the forefront. It seems like overnight this Indiana Jones lookalike game blew up and maintained its spot as the number one free app for months. Chances are you have probably played it, but if you have not, this 3D endless runner is one of the best, and is a ton of fun for short bursts or long play sessions.
Subway Surfers is very similar to Temple Run in terms 0f gameplay. You run through a 3D train yard and avoid obstacles and trains that are coming to take your head off. Like Temple Run, there are plenty of enhancements and powerups to help you survive until the end of the level. It looks and plays great, and is a game definitely worth installing on your iOS device.
This game is an endless runner from the creators of iOS mega-hit Fruit Ninja. Instead of actually running, you are navigating the 2D environments with a variety of jetpacks. It is easily one of the most fun games on iOS, and with constant updates from Halfbrick Studios, it is easy to keep coming back for months. If running is not your style, and you prefer a little more hang time, Jetpack Joyride is the perfect game for you.
Jelly Jumpers [No Longer Available]
This new game has not made many waves yet, but it is a ton of fun. It is an endless jumper, but the platforms you land on are rotating at various speeds. You have to time your jumps just right, or you will fall to your doom. It has a cute art style, enjoyable music and is downright fun. If you are looking for a game that is not the latest craze, check out Jelly Jumpers.
This game is pure joy wrapped up in a video game. Every little detail about Tiny Wings makes me smile. The cuteness, the music, and the gameplay all come together to make a game that cannot help but put you in a good mood. Helping your tiny winged birds fly as far as they can is a ton of fun, and this is a game that is well worth the $.99. In addition, they just came out with a free update that is absolutely massive. This is a necessary addition to every iOS library.
Doodle Jump is a classic. It sounds weird to say when you think of how short the life of the App Store has been. It stood the test of time, and every time there is a major update, it shoots to the upper end of the App Store. It features some of the most fun endless jumping on iOS. It also has the best system for competing with your friends. It actually adds their name to the side of the screen so you can see it as you blow right by.
Ski Safari [No Longer Available]
Who wants to run endlessly when you can ski? In Ski Safari, you try to ski for as long as possible without being sucked in by an avalanche. It looks great, and is so much fun, even if you are not a skier. This is not only one of my favorite endless runners on iOS; it is actually one of my favorite games in any genre. It is well worth the price of admission.
So there you have it. With these games, you will be jumping and running until the end of days. This massive list of games should keep you busy for some time, and I hope they bring you as much joy and entertainment as they did for me.
