    I have some strong suspicions about "Free Word and Excel Password Recovery Wizard" being what I would call "lure-ware" or "ruse-ware". I honestly don't think it can find anything, and to test it would be very difficult because I don't have Office 2003 (it doesn't work on Office 2007 or later) to create and lock a document with a simple password to see if it works. The document I have is an Excel spreadsheet created with 2003 and it's completely locked to opening without the password (which is the proper use of this application).

    Part of my suspicion is that it allows you to setup a search that it then bails out of exactly 4 hours later, and refers you to use one of two apps that you have to pay for.

    If this really can find anything, why does it allow you to setup a search that is guaranteed to take days, but then always stops at four hours.

    With only 4 hours, you are very limited in what you can search for...making this app almost completely worthless. I highly doubt that it can even find the simplest of passwords and the entire app may be a ruse created to lure you into buying the app because it got you to the edge of expectation that you just have to get that password cracked.

      The newer version that is on the site looks nothing like the version in this (very old) posting, but I saw another much more recent post showing the same old version (post was from last month in October). After searching, I found that older version and trying now.

    I really I want to thank this post, I've promoted this entry to be first in Google results.

    I had several days trying to get back the password of MySpaceIM, and surprise. "MessenPass" did the dirty job. Do not listen to anti-virus, this program does its job and has to move things to succeed.

    If you have not brought this post, I would never have recovered my password.

    Thanks Tina.

    I have personally tested a windows password recovery tool which is named "windows login recovery". Burn a boot CD with the program, and insert it into the problem computer and your password will be reset to “Blank”, without losing any data and you needn't reinstall windows OS.

    For Firefox and Chrome no tool is needed;
    Chrome: click the wrench -> Options -> Personal-tab click the button under passwords
    Firefox: click Options -> Security click button under passwords
