a little late to the party, but I have a request.
One of the reasons we switched to drive is access. Being able to share files and folders is a beautiful thing. We hire a lot of contractors and like to have a template folder and contents that we duplicate and share with them. This means that several copies of a file gets created, however, when we update a file, we don't want to have to go update each copy.
Having a mechanism that allows you to tie copies to the primary so that edits would push downstream would make beautiful thing, drop-dead-gorgeous.

I have been very happy Microsoft user for almost 20 years now. However, EDGE is a worst piece you-know-what they have ever released. It often locks up my HP computer and I have to restart it to get it to work correctly, and then only for a short while. I'm going back to CHROME where I never had a problem. A complete re-design by some high school students would be a big step in the right direction. Extensions don't work well, if at all and I find it slower then CHROME. EDGE needs a complete re-do.

Well, there are a lot of great PDF ebooks available on MakeUseOf that I download for reference. I'm storing them in Drive, so they end up taking up a lot of storage. That's what this procedure is all about.

But to qualify for free storage they have to be broken into 20 page sections because that's the largest PDF that Drive will store. Guess what though? When you upload a 20 page section you only get 10 of them because the other 10 pages are taken up by the OCR conversion :( That's why there NEEDS to be a deselect for the OCR. For something I'm only going to be reading for reference, I don't need text search.

So for anybody who saves ebooks to Drive, this shouldn't be that uncommon a procedure. I just wish I was a coder.

What I'd love to see is an app that can split my PDF's into Drive-friendly sections and then automatically convert them to Docs format as they upload.

And oh yeah, eliminate the ocr junk while we're at it lol. There's a lot of time involved in all those steps.

That's pretty specific. But definitely would be useful if you did it a lot! In the meantime, check out Cloud Convert. They do a great job of converting things, and there's an API you can use. Maybe you can set up a script?
