Back in the Super Nintendo days, characters were made with 2D sprites. Those days are mostly behind us, with most games now opting for 3D polygons, though there are some games that elect to go with an old school art style still.

The games back then had a certain visual charm to them, and no where is that captured better than in this image featuring over 13,000 SNES characters in sprite form. It's like a Wear's Waldo of some of the world's most beloved characters.
