Instagram is my favorite of the major social networks; while anything and everything gets posted to Facebook and Twitter, Instagram always feels more focused. It’s just a stream of photos and captions. That doesn’t mean it has to be serious, there are some hilariously funny Instagram accounts out there to liven up your feed.
From awesome old ladies to crazy ex-boyfriends, these 11 hysterical accounts have something everyone should enjoy.

Alright guys, I get it, you're adorable…now let me try this thing! #sharingiscaring #frothylove #threesgoodcompany #tripleblessed #tresequis #tripod #wheresaldo #orangemochafrappuccino #kanye #bae #nyc #summer #wheresthechocolatesauce #bushleague #love #thirdwheel #bff #puppies #fleekweek #tripodgoals
Peter Alden is a 29-year-old single guy living in New York. Unfortunately for him, his brother and best-friend now has a girlfriend.
His Instagram account is a hilarious record of the awkward times he’s been a third wheel on their dates. It takes serious dedication to your art to go and see 50 Shades of Grey as a third wheel. Alden’s that dedicated, and the results are hysterical.
There are certain posts you’ll see time and time again on Instagram. Mugs of coffee, plates of food, and selfies — which I’m a fan of — are but three. Satiregram exists to point out all the clichéd Instagram images. The account posts photos of written captions describing typical Instagram images.
If you’re a frequent Instagram user, it can be eye-opening to see just how many overdone images you’re posting.
Online dating can get weird. In fact, dating in general can get very very weird. Some people don’t handle being ignored or getting rejected very well. The Instagram account byefelipe takes submissions from girls who’ve had “dudes turn hostile” on them. The screenshots are often hilarious, though sometimes in a very very dark way.
If you’re the kind of person who likes their humour to come with a side order of despair about the human race, byefelipe is a must-follow.
Another Instagram account that takes user submissions, textsfromyourex posts screenshots of messages that people get from their exes. While some of them are the standard, 2am drunk texts, others can be a bit off the wall and only remind you why the couple must have broken up in the first place. The photos they post are often hilarious.
My favorite Instagram account of all time is baddiewinkle. The awesomeness of this 87-year-old great-grandmother and marijuana legalization advocate is hard to describe; she is killing it on Instagram, and counts Rihanna among her many fans. While not as out and out funny as some of the other accounts on this list, baddiewinkle is living proof that getting old doesn’t mean getting boring.
Despite the fact that the Internet loves cats, everyone knows they are small furry balls of evil. If they were smart, they’d undoubtedly be evil geniuses. Evil geniuses need money, and thus cashcats is born.
For some, entirely inexplicable, reason cats lying on piles of cash just seems natural. Perhaps it’s years of Hollywood villains stroking cats and demanding “one million dollars”. Whether you love or hate cats (high-five!), cashcats adds something different to your Instagram feed.
Some Tinder opening lines work great, other are just awful. The Instagram account tinderconvos, is dedicated to documenting the latter. If a pun’s too bad to believed, the message is obviously from that guy, or something just plain weird happens, you’ll find it posted to tinderconvos.
Since I followed the account, it’s provided a near endless source of amusement; I recommend you follow it too.
What do rap lyrics and paintings have in common?
Well nothing, except the Instagram account flyartproductions has taken to mashing them up to great results. Taking some of the best pieces of art created by humanity, and slapping tangentially related rap lyrics over the top is another thing that shouldn’t work but just does.
Some people feel the need to post inspirational quotes everywhere. They view the world through some heavily rose-tinted glasses where the only thing stopping you from achieving your dreams is positive thinking and a photo of a sunset with a mis-attributed quote underneath on your wall. To counter all this boundless positivity, the Instagram account unspirational’s posts have a more closer relationship with reality.
It’s a wonderful panacea for all the horrible, motivating quotes you see all the time.
Every relationship reaches a point where it really should end. For some relationships, it’s because the couple has drifted apart. For others, it’s the opposite problem. When you’re so comfortable with each other that your text messages include more poop emoji than love hearts, a line has been crossed. Things need to end.
That’s where weshouldbreakup comes in. Rather than poking fun at single people tirelessly searching for a relationship, it documents some of the many many reasons they should avoid them at all cost.
I’m a big fan of Kanye West, although he has his detractors. At any one time, Kanye never seems sure whether God doesn’t exist, he’s on a mission from God, or he is in fact God. Whenever he does something big, it attracts the attention of the tabloid press. Every time he opens his mouth, thousands of words are written dissecting what he says. The poor guy, maybe he just wants to do regular things; like go on a rollercoaster, or eat ice-cream.
The Instagram account kanyedoingthings is dedicated to finding those moments where Kanye just gets to do something and be himself; the results are ridiculous.
That’s just a few of the funny Instagram accounts out there that you should follow. There are countless more.
Please let me know in the comments what your favorite hilarious accounts are. I’m always looking to liven up my feed (and so is everyone else reading this article).
