Sound Sunday is a weekly feature offered here at MakeUseOf where we promote free album downloads. Every edition invites you to explore various genres and artists from around the world. This week all albums are united by a common theme; whether rock, jazz, soul, or hip hop, they are all instrumentals.


Note that name your price albums can be downloaded for free by entering 0 in the price field. That said, we strongly recommend you to donate a few dollars for music you enjoy!

Cloudkicker – Fade

Cloudkicker is the music project of Ben Sharp from Columbus, Ohio. From his Last.fm profile: “Cloudkicker is a one man progressive metal project from Ben Sharp (aka B.M. Sharp), heavily influenced by math metal and post-metal. Sharp utilizes drum machines and custom tuned guitars in his recordings. Progressive and instrumental influences are also obvious in his music. Aviation has been a major recurring theme within each release. Most of the song titles, album titles, and art work are inspired, derived, or influenced by Aviation. For example, each song title from Beacons was taken from actual black box recordings or radio transmissions from from crashed or malfunctioning airplanes.

This Salt Lake City based band was impossible to track down for further details. Awesome music nevertheless. And if you have attended the Fusion Fest 2012 in Provo, Utah, you may have seen them play live this past Friday.

        I'm a fan of instrumental, industrial sounds
        And hard rock / metal.

        I was thinking some kind of playlist we can weekly start, with the songs that you always post.

        But most artists are not on spotify and I don't know if it is possible to create a bandcamp playlist.

        Other than that, it's just fine for me. :-)

          The playlist idea is a good one, it has come up before. Unfortunately, this is something Bandcamp would have to offer as a feature and presently they don't.
