#1 - It's how it is taught here in Western Australia, it's what you are typically told to do because it keeps you in absolute control of the vehicle.

The problem with #1 is that it assumes every cars handbrake works the same, this is not accurate, take my vehicle for instance, the handbrake doesn't stop the wheels from moving, it just stops the tailshaft from spinning the wheels.

On that note, I prefer to put the vehicle into neutral while waiting at the lights with the foot on the brake pedal.

#2 - It's amazing how stupidly inaccurate even up to date maps can be.
#3 - I can agree with, though you are supposed to turn your A/C on every once in a while during winter to ensure that the seals don't dry out.

#4 - Highly depends on the vehicle, IMHO, my car has zero care, being diesel it makes SFA difference for the most part, though being a low gear ratio vehicle you don't really want to cause wear on the system.

Modern cars suck, you have to do so much to maintain that aero-dynamics, I'll stick with my old 24yr old diesel :)

RAC here in Western Australia also recommends you remove your spare tyre (I can understand why, but I think it is a stupid idea).

    #6 - Definitely.

#7 - makes bugger all difference
    #8 - Agree.
#9 - I don't understand people who do this, it's pretty damn obvious what a set of traffic lights are going to do.
#10 - Speed Bumps be damned, my vehicle is all like 'what speedbump?'

But then, out of all that, these things are always designed for modern vehicles, of which mine isn't.

    I see #9 every time I drive.
Many drivers have an optical illusion driving fast into a red stop light, or just to a stop sign at an intersection.
Doing that they think they get to their destination faster. What an illusion!!!
They don't see beyond the tip of their nose.

The clutch one is just bad form anyway. I'm not sure who is teaching these people how to drive stick, but the clutch should never be used as a means to hold a car in place. learn how to work the clutch properly and just use the foot brake on a hill.
