Microsoft has only recently released the Surface Duo and rumors are already creeping in for the next entry in the Surface range. The company is expected to release a new Surface Pro X in Fall 2020 with a few new additions.

What's Rumored for the New Surface Pro X?

This news came to us via Windows Central, who received information via an unknown source. The source claims that Microsoft wants to give the Surface Pro X  a "refresh" later this year.

The specific choice of words behind "refresh" means that a Surface Pro X 2 is unlikely. In fact, the contact says that the changes will be "a relatively minor one."

It's more likely that this rumored product will be a remix on the Surface Pro X with some key improvements. The new product will feature an upgraded SQ2 processor, and sport a brand new platinum-based color.

This remix on the Surface Pro X will also introduce some new colors for the Type Cover. The Type Cover is the keyboard that you attach to the device for hardware typing. The new Type Covers will feature more colors to bring it in-line with the Surface Pro's range.

Microsoft is performing this move because the company is happy with the new Surface Pro X's performance. As such, this touch-up is a good way for Microsoft to get out a Pro X with a more powerful processor.

Out With the Old, and In With the New

While this information doesn't strongly hint at Surface Pro X 2, it does look like the current model is getting a refresh for the current day. Keep your eyes on Microsoft for a potential announcement on this new device.

This isn't the only device that Microsoft is rumored to release in Fall 2020. There are whispers that a mid-range Surface laptop codenamed "Sparti" may come out around the end of 2020.
