The Surface Duo didn't have a great start, but that doesn't mean Microsoft is abandoning their pet project. The company has just released an update for Swiftkey, which takes advantage of the Surface Duo's unique two-screen system.

What the Swiftkey Update Did for the Surface Duo

The update was silently rolled out to Swiftkey on the Surface Duo but was found by fahdriyami on Reddit. When put in Thumb Mode, Swiftkey will display the keyboard across both screens on the Surface Duo. This allows you to type on the device while holding it like a book.

This is a good sign from Microsoft, as it shows that they haven't given up the Surface Duo just yet. After all, many initial negative reviews criticized the bugginess of the software rather than hardware limitations.

By pushing these updates that fix issues and enhance functionality, Microsoft could bring the Surface Duo back out from its early grave.

Bringing New Life Into the Surface Duo

The Surface Duo didn't have the best welcoming party, but Microsoft is still determined to make it work. Who knows what else Microsoft has in store to make the Surface Duo an appealing purchase?

That's not to say the Surface Duo is the only product in the running for Microsoft.
