I don't mind paying if it's worth the money. I need something that can capture HD quality with sound at around 30 fps (or more) and still look good. Thoughts?

In my opinion, CamStudio and Microsoft's Expression Encoder are better than anything else.

'Fraps' would do that, but the video size will be very large.

If you're planning to be doing gaming demonstrations then Fraps is good recording software as it shows what FPS you are getting.Otherwise I would suggest Camtasia Studio 8, it has recording and editing.

If you're looking into capturing video from a website, there are a few and simple options. Internet download manager has that feature to capture videos from sites as it streams and downloads them. In firefox, you can install an ad-on called NetvideoHunter which does a similar amazing job too. :)

You need to specify what kind of video you are trying to capture: as in something being pulled from an external source via a video capture card, or your desktop as everyone else is assuming - or perhaps you want to steal youtube videos? Without knowing, we cant really help.
