I connect my MP3 Player to my laptop in order to charge it.
When disconnecting, do I need to follow any special steps.
It usually links to Media Player or Windows Explorer.

For standard flash based players that can have music added directly to it without another application (ex: Not an iPod), all you should have to do is close any programs that are accessing the player and eject it from the USB with the icon in the system tray of a USB plug with a green circle with a check mark in it. Click on that and select "Safely remove Mass Storage Device - Drive (X:)".If you would rather charge it without having to connect it to your computer, there are also USB chargers available in many stores designed to charge iPods in a wall outlet, but they will work for anything that charges over a USB connection.
