So, I mean the total speed up, not just (but also including) "get a better browser" speedup. Assume you can't change the connection you're currently using.

So far, I have

1) Use a fast DNS. OpenDNS and Google Public DNS are alternatives that you can compare to your current one.

2) Use a good proxy. Proxies like privoxy have advanced features that can make websites you specify load faster by "taming" javascript and html while also increasing your privacy. Would not using a proxy at all speed things up even more?

3) Make your computer faster (obviously). Already a lot of articles on this.

4) Make your browser faster (obviously). Also a lot of articles on this.

Are there any others? Am I missing layers of the internet which I can change to speed up?

Thx.

Well, your hardware plays an important role as well. For instance, not enough RAM may result in slow page loads.
