I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista Japanese. It starts up very slow, almost 9 minutes, what could the problem be? I haven't done anything as yet.

first, what you have to do is defragment the hard disk by going to my computer then right clicking on the local hardisk and pressing properties and then defragmenting it. Then uninstall useless(unwanted) apps. Try keeping as much hard disk space as possible as this can help in the speed of the system. Try downloading a free version of avg tune up 2011. it removes all(most) of the unwanted items in your computer and also fixes any virus etc.... i hope this information was useful to you..

A similar question was already asked. Maybe the answers will help you out as well.http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/speed-windows-vista-boot-time/

Well the best will be reformat and reinstal again, possible some drivers are missing or harware corrupted?Possible your fonts are slowing windows boot up:Every font that gets installed on your PC slows down the boot-up time and slows down your normal operational speed. Many programs that you install automatically add their own set of fonts, and very soon you can end up with a frenzy of unnecessary fonts clogging up your computer.http://tipsandtricksforpc.com/2009/12/font-frenzy/

Most of the time long boot times are caused by fragmentation on the hard drive and a lot of startup services and autostart items.1. Rightclick your Windows drive (mostly C:) and choose Settings > Tools > defragment now2. get your hands on Soluto (www.soluto.com) to see detailed information about what's causing your system to startup slowlyhttp://www.makeuseof.com/tag/soluto-improve-windows-boot-time/

Another vote for Soluto.I would also suggest uninstalling the apps you no longer use. The fewer apps you have installed the faster you computer will run.
