I've lost data on my CD disk and I don't know why. How can I get it back? I've heard of some Minitool Power Data Recovery software but I haven't used it before. Does it work?

If the CD *looks* OK, but can't be read, tryISOBuster from http://www.isobuster.com/Or Recuva from http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download

Hello, can you explain a little bit more about your issue? If it is not scratches, you could make sure to use a CD/DVD cleaner machine to get rid of dust, greasy, fingerprints, etc, to try an read the disk or you could try cleaning the disk yourself. Without knowing more, it is kind of hard to give suggestions.

If it is scratched, try using a black marker pen.If it is warped, flaking, going transparent or otherwise deteriorating, throw it away and use flash disks from now on.If you're really desperate, image the CD using ISOBuster or similar, then rebuild the FAT using a a regular drive tool.

If it is due to scratches on the disk, you can always try to fix them. As long as the scratches aren't deep, it tends to work well. You can also try using Nero RescueAgent.

lost data on cd? that weird. 1st of all is the disc still can be read? or other data other then u said missing is accessable? or the whole disc cannot been detect at all? in my case, the disc i have cannot load in my dvdrom due to the rom itself are "picky" to read media n choose high quality media to burn n read it. so my advice, try load the disc at other rom or pc n see what happen. n if the disc is corrupt, u can try ur luck with this sofware http://www.roadkil.net/program.php/P29/Unstoppable%20Copier or this http://www.freewarefiles.com/CD-Recover_program_21408.html

you can use minitool power data recovery and this tool is very functional and handy. you can use the free version but if the data is over 1GB, you have to pay for it.
